Canon EOS 60D Rear LCD Screen Protective Plastic Cover Replacement
Is your Canon EOS 60D’s rear LCD screen protective plastic cover damaged or scratched? Don’t worry, replacing it is a relatively simple process that can be done at home with the right tools. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the steps to replace the protective plastic cover on your Canon EOS 60D’s rear LCD screen.
Tools Needed
To replace the protective plastic cover, you’ll need the following tools:
- Phillips #PH00 screwdriver
- Plastic opening tool (such as a spudger)
- Tweezers
- Jimmy (a thin, flat tool for prying open the cover)
Step 1: Remove the LCD Screen
To access the protective plastic cover, you’ll need to remove the LCD screen from its housing. Start by removing the two 2.5 mm Phillips #PH00 black screws on both sides of the LCD screen.
Step 2: Remove the Additional Screws
Next, remove the two 3 mm Phillips #PH00 black screws near both sides of the base where the screen swivels.
Step 3: Pry Off the Back Cover
Using a plastic opening tool, carefully pry off the back cover of the LCD screen.
Step 4: Remove the Silver Screws
Remove the 3 mm Phillips #PH00 silver screw on the side of the screen, and then turn the screen to remove the second 3 mm Phillips #PH00 silver screw.
Step 5: Disconnect the Rear Connector
Using tweezers, carefully disconnect the rear connector by pulling it away from the screen.
Step 6: Remove the LCD Screen
Remove the two 2.5 mm Phillips #PH00 silver screws using the PH00 screwdriver, and then use the plastic Spudger opening tool to carefully lift up on the medal tabs next to where the screws were located. Finally, remove the LCD screen by grabbing the clear plastic tab and lifting it carefully.
Step 7: Remove the Protective Plastic Cover
Slowly insert the tip of the Jimmy between the damaged plastic cover and the plastic frame, which holds it, to loosen the connection between them. Be careful not to damage the plastic frame or cause personal injury.
Step 8: Install the New Protective Plastic Cover
To install the new protective plastic cover, simply stick it to the frame in the appropriate position.
