Canon EOS 6D Image Sensor Replacement
Step 1: Prepare the Camera
Before starting the repair, make sure to remove the viewfinder cover by pinching the sides and sliding it upward.
Next, open the battery door on the bottom of the camera by sliding your thumb along the small black tab on the inside of the battery door.
Step 2: Access the Image Sensor
Slide your fingernail or the flat end of the spudger underneath the rubber covering and gently peel it off all sides of the camera.
Rotate the covers to the side so that you can see the connection ports inside. Remove the following screws:
- Two silver 5mm Phillips #00
- One black 6mm Phillips #00
Step 3: Disconnect the Image Sensor
Use the pointed end of the spudger to lift up on the silver latches on four ribbon wires.
Carefully slide out the four light brown ribbon wires. Remove two 4mm screws from the metal plate on the back of the camera.
Step 4: Remove the Image Sensor
Use your fingers to grip the top of the image sensor and pull it slightly outward.
Slowly lift the image sensor out toward the top of the camera.
Conclusion
With the image sensor removed, you can now inspect and replace it as needed. Remember to handle the image sensor with care, as it is a delicate component.
