Step 1
- Once you've warmed up that adhesive, grab a suction cup and place it at the bottom of the back cover. Gently pull on the suction cup while sliding your trusty opening tool, like the iFlex or iPlastix, into the gap that's forming between the back cover and the frame. Easy peasy!
- If you want a little extra help lifting the back cover, the iSclack is your friend! With suction cups on both sides, it’ll pull the display and back cover up evenly.
When you're working on the left edge of the back cover, remember to take it easy and not push your tool too deep into the device. There's a delicate flex cable lurking in there, and we definitely don't want to damage it! Also, keep an eye on the upper part near the camera module—it's a bit of a scratch magnet, and that back cover is glued down like it's on a mission. So, proceed with care!
The iFlex is crafted from a sleek yet sturdy metal, making it a breeze to slide into those tight spots. Just a heads up, though—this handy tool can also be a bit of a troublemaker, as it might scratch the back glass or frame of your device if you're not careful!
Step 2
6 × 3,3 mm Phillips
Guess what? The NFC antenna is hanging out on the cover of the main board, ready to help you connect with the world! Keep that in mind as you work your magic.
- First things first, let’s give that camera a little workout! Extend it out fully before we dive into the next steps.
- Open up your camera app and switch to the front camera mode—let’s get that selfie action going!
- Once your camera module is fully extended and ready for action, go ahead and remove those six Phillips screws that are all the same length. You've got this!
Step 3
Battery Connector
Keep that camera module fully extended while you disconnect the battery contact! This little trick ensures the camera stays in position throughout the repair process. You got this!
- Next up, it's time to disconnect the battery contact! This little move stops any power from flowing through your device, keeping it safe and sound while you work your magic. Plus, it helps avoid any unexpected short-circuits during the repair process.
Step 4
7 × 3,9 mm Phillips
- Start by loosening those seven Phillips screws holding the speaker snugly in place. You've got this!
- Now, gently pry that slightly glued component out of the unit. A little finesse goes a long way!
Step 5
1 × 2,9 mm Phillips
Antenna Connector
Fingerprint Connector
- Unscrew that lone screw holding the USB board in place, nice and easy!
- Next, unplug the connector for the fingerprint sensor—it's like giving it a little break.
- Now, let’s tackle those two antenna cables! Use your trusty tweezers to gently slide underneath each connector and give it a slight twist to loosen them up.
- Time to say goodbye to the SIM card holder—carefully remove it from the device!
- With that done, you can gently lift out the lower circuit board. Just remember to bend those cables a tad to the side so they don’t get stuck.
Step 6
1 × 2,9 mm Phillips
Antenna Connector
- Time to slide that lower board back into its cozy spot in the device! Just be sure not to squish any cables hiding underneath.
- Next up, let's get that SIM card holder back in its rightful place. If it's feeling stubborn, don’t force it—just check if the board is snugly in position first.
- Now, let’s reconnect the fingerprint sensor connector. We want to keep those fingers happy!
- Align the antenna cable connectors over their sockets and give them a gentle press with a spudger until you hear that satisfying snap.
- Guide the white cable into the clamp on the board—it's a little detour for the cable!
- Finally, secure everything with that lone screw. You're almost there!
Step 7
7 × 3,9 mm Phillips
- Time to slide that wide flex cable back into your device! Just connect it to both the main board and the USB board like a pro.
- Now, gently place that speaker back into its cozy spot in the device. Give it a little press down and secure it with screws. You're almost there!
Step 8
Battery Connector
- Now, let's connect that battery back to the mainboard! You've got this!
Step 9
6 × 3,3 mm Phillips
- Start by placing the main board cover on the right side and give it a gentle press to lock it in place.
- Make sure those little plastic clips on both sides snap back in like they’re happy to be home.
- Now, go ahead and secure that cover in place!
Step 10
- Before you seal up your Samsung Galaxy A80 and give that back cover a fresh glue job, let’s do a quick check to make sure everything's working like a charm!
- Fire up your phone and head over to the phone app.
- Type in *#0*# in the number field, and voilà! The Samsung test menu will pop up.
- Here, you can give the display a little workout to check for any touch or display hiccups.
- Don’t forget to test out all the other cool features too, like the speaker, vibration motor, and more!
- If everything is functioning as it should, it’s time to close up the device and call it a day!
Step 11
- Say goodbye to any leftover adhesive on the inside of the back cover and the device frame. A plastic tool, like a spudger, is your best buddy for scraping off those pesky remnants. If needed, a little rubbing alcohol (isopropanol) on a lint-free cloth can help too. Make sure to clear away all the sticky stuff so your device can close up nice and snug!
- Grab your new adhesive frame and make sure it lines up just right. Use those recesses and screw holes as your trusty guide.
- Peel off that first transparent protective film and stick the adhesive onto the frame, making sure it’s snug and doesn’t stick out anywhere.
- Next, remove the green protective foil. If any glue tries to escape from the frame, just press it back into place with your spudger.
- Now it’s time to put the back cover on and give it a good press.
- For an extra boost, heat the edge of the device with your heat gun and place a few books on top to help the adhesive stick like it means it!
