Galaxy S10e – Replacing the camera

Duration: 60 min.
Steps: 18 Steps

Are your photos looking a bit fuzzy or blurry? Noticing some pesky pixel issues in your images? Or maybe you're spotting strange marks in your videos, even though your Galaxy S10e's camera lens is squeaky clean? Don't fret! This guide will walk you through the steps to swap out that faulty camera in your Galaxy S10e all by yourself. Just hit the little play button in the upper right corner of the image to watch a video for each step! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 1

- First things first, let's power down your device! Press and hold that power button until you see the 'Power off' option pop up.

- Now, give it a little tap with your finger to confirm you really want to shut it down, and hang tight while the screen goes blank. You're doing great!

Step 2

- The back cover is stuck on there pretty well! To get it off, warm up the device evenly with some hot air to loosen that stubborn glue. A cozy temperature of 60 - 80°C should do the trick. Just remember, it should still feel comfortable to touch—no need to turn it into a hot potato!

- To tackle that back cover, grab a flat and flexible tool like the iPlastix or iFlex. You'll also want a few picks handy to help pry it loose all around the edges.

- Start by heating up the area where you're going to begin, then slide a flat tool between the back cover and the frame. You're on your way!

Step 3

- Start by loosening those Phillips screws that are keeping the cover in place. Just a heads up, the contactless charging coil and NFC antenna are cozying up to the plastic cover.

- Next, you'll notice that the cover is snugly hooked at the top and has a little adhesive love at the bottom. Gently slide a flat tool under the glued areas and ease them apart.

- Once you've done that, you can lift off the cover along with the coil. You're doing great!

Step 4

- Grab your trusty spudger and gently unplug the battery connection from the motherboard. You've got this!

Step 5

- Unscrew those Phillips screws holding the speaker in place, and then gently take it out.

- To make it easier to lift the speaker, try giving it a little nudge up at the side openings. Look out for those tiny triangular arrows guiding you!

Step 6

- First things first, gently disconnect that headphone jack connector from the motherboard. Grab your trusty spudger and carefully pop it off!

- Now, give the side of the jack a little nudge to free it up, and then slide it right out of the case.

Step 7

- First up, let's disconnect that front camera connector with a trusty spudger. You've got this!

- Gently pry it up from the side that's free of any PCB components. Easy peasy!

- Now, carefully lift the camera out of its cozy holder. You're on a roll!

Step 8

- Grab your trusty spudger and gently disconnect those highlighted contacts from the motherboard. You've got this!

- Unscrew the Phillips screws like a pro. They won't know what hit them!

- Time to pop out the SIM card holder. Easy peasy!

- Now, carefully lift out the motherboard. Just watch out for those connectors you've already disconnected—don't let them catch you off guard!

- Once you've got the motherboard out, place it somewhere safe. It's on a little vacation now!

Step 9

- Unplug those camera connectors from the back of the motherboard, and let's get this party started!

- Gently nudge the cameras through the board's opening so you can lift them out with ease.

- The camera module might be feeling a bit clingy with some light adhesive around the edges. A little hot air can work wonders here if they're being stubborn about coming out.

Step 10

- Set the camera module onto the mainboard and gently connect both connectors. Hold the connector and the board between two fingers and press until you hear a satisfying little click as it locks into place.

Step 11

- Gently grab the motherboard and slide it into the device with care. Watch out for those pesky cables—no pinching allowed! Give those connectors a little bend to the side.

- Start by placing the board at the bottom and snugging the charging socket into its cozy opening. Once that’s done, press the board down until it fits just right all around.

- Now it's time to pop in the SIM card holder. If it’s playing hard to get, don’t force it! Just double-check that the mainboard is seated properly.

- Next up, let’s secure the motherboard by fastening those screws. They’ll keep everything nice and snug!

- Finally, reconnect all those connectors. You’ve got this!

Step 12

- Pop that front camera into place and snugly connect its little buddy, the connector!

Step 13

- Gently pop the audio jack in and give it a little press until you hear that satisfying click! It's like a little victory dance for your device.

- Now, let's reconnect that connector again. You've got this!

Step 14

- Now, gently set the speaker back over the USB port, give it a little press to secure it, and fasten those screws nice and tight.

- Don't forget to check that it's snugly latched in at the bottom!

Step 15

- Attach the battery to the motherboard. Firmly press the connector onto the motherboard until you hear that satisfying click, letting you know it's snugly in place.

Step 16

- Carefully place the cover with the antenna back into the enclosure, making sure to hook it onto the top first.

- Next, give the cover a gentle press with your fingers until you hear that satisfying click.

- Now, grab your Phillips screwdriver and fasten those screws snugly!

Step 17

- Fire up your device and give it a whirl using the built-in test mode!

- To access the test mode, just dial *#0*#.

- Follow the prompts and check out the screen, cameras, and sensors to make sure everything's working like a charm!

Step 18

- Carefully place the back cover back where it belongs, like a puzzle piece fitting snugly into its spot.

- Give that back cover a gentle but firm press all around to ensure the glue gets a good grip and sticks like it's meant to.
