Galaxy S10e – Replacing the front camera

Duration: 60 min.
Steps: 10 Steps

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to swap out your Galaxy 10e's faulty front-facing camera. If your selfies are coming out blurry or the front camera just isn’t cooperating, this repair is just what you need. Let’s get that camera back in action!

Step 1

- First things first, let's power down your device! Press and hold that power button until you see the 'Power off' option pop up on your screen.

- Give it a gentle tap with your finger to confirm you want to shut it down, and then sit tight while the screen fades to black. You got this!

Step 2

- Alright, let’s get that back cover off! It’s stuck on there pretty well, so we’ll need to give it some love. Warm up your device evenly with a hot air source to help soften that stubborn glue. A cozy temperature of 60 - 80°C should do the trick. Just remember, it should feel warm to the touch but not like you’re holding a hot potato!

- Now, to make things easier, grab a flat and flexible tool like the iPlastix or iFlex. You’ll also want a few picks handy to help you gently pry the back cover loose all around the edges.

- Start by heating up the spot where you want to begin. Then, slide your flat tool between the back cover and the frame, and let’s get this party started!

Step 3

- First things first, grab your trusty Phillips screwdriver and loosen those screws holding the cover in place. Remember, the contactless charging coil and NFC antenna are snugly attached to that plastic cover, so be gentle!

- Next up, let’s tackle the cover! It’s hooked into the top of the housing and has a little glue holding it down at the bottom. Slide a flat tool carefully under those areas and give them a little wiggle to loosen things up.

- And voilà! You can now lift off the cover along with the coil. Easy peasy!

Step 4

- Grab your trusty spudger and gently detach the battery connection from the motherboard. You've got this!

- Carefully pry it up from the side that’s free of any PCB components—easy does it!

- Now, go ahead and lift the camera out of its cozy little holder.

Step 6

- Pop in that front camera and snugly connect its little buddy, the connector.

Step 7

- Plug the battery into the motherboard. Give it a gentle press until you hear that satisfying click, letting you know it’s snug and secure!

Step 8

- Gently place the cover with the antenna back into the enclosure, making sure to hook it onto the top first.

- Now, give it a little press with your fingers until you hear that satisfying click as it locks into place.

- Lastly, grab your Phillips screwdriver and fasten those screws snugly.

Step 9

- Fire up your device and give it a whirl in the built-in test mode!

- To jump into test mode, just dial *#0*#.

- Follow the prompts to check out the screen, cameras, and sensors. You've got this!

Step 10

- Gently place the back cover back where it belongs.

- Give the back cover a little love tap all around so the glue gets cozy and sticks well.
