Galaxy S21 FE 5G – Replacing the screen

Now it’s time to swap out that screen! In this awesome step-by-step photo guide, we’ll walk you through the process in the best way possible.

Step 1

- Press and hold the side button and the volume down button together for a few seconds. If you're in a hurry, you can also power off your Galaxy through quick access.

- Select 'Power off' from the menu that pops up.

Step 2

- Use a SIM tool (or any pointy thing!) to gently nudge the SIM tray out of its hiding spot. It'll pop right out!

- Then, give that tray a little tug and pull it free. You're doing great!

Step 3

- Warming up the edge of the back cover is key! Use your hot air gadget and give that area a nice even heat bath. It'll help the adhesive loosen up and make your life easier.

Step 4

- Grab your suction cup and stick it to the bottom of the back cover. Now, give it a gentle tug to create a tiny gap – you're doing awesome!

- With that gap open, slide in your flat tool between the back cover and the screen. You're halfway to screen-repair success!

Step 5

- Run your tool all the way around the edge of the back cover to gently loosen it piece by piece. You're doing great!

- Once it's all loosened up, set that back cover aside and give yourself a pat on the back!

Step 6

- Loosen those nine Phillips screws that are holding onto the plastic cover above the motherboard.

- Gently nudge that cover out of its guide with a spudger. You're on a roll!

Step 7

- Fold the loosened board cover around.

- Carefully disconnect the orange battery connector and black charging coil connector with a spudger from the motherboard.

- Pull the glued end of the cover off the speaker.

Step 8

- Loosen the six Phillips screws keeping the speaker snugly in its place. You've got this!

- Carefully coax the speaker out of its guide and set it aside like a pro. You're making great progress!

Step 9

- Gently part ways with the two connectors of the screen cable using a cool spudger.

- Bid farewell to the cable that's disconnected from your device.

Step 10

- Using a spudger, gently free the two connecting cables from their cozy spots on the motherboard and USB board. It's like a little unplugging party!

- Once you've got those cables disconnected, just set them aside and give yourself a little high-five for that smooth move!

Step 11

- Warm up that battery by giving it a nice, even hot air massage from the opposite side of the screen. It’ll help loosen things up and make your job a whole lot easier!

Step 12

- Gently place a battery spudger at the lower edge of the battery and lift it up with care.

- Once it's free, remove that battery from your device.

- Now, slide the flat iPlastix under the battery at the lifted edge and carefully detach it bit by bit from the bottom of the screen unit.

Step 13

- Gently detach the last two connectors from the motherboard. They’re for the front camera and those handy volume buttons. You've got this!

Step 14

- Unscrew that single Phillips screw holding the motherboard in place. You got this!

- Now, grab your trusty spudger and gently pry that board out of the device. You're on your way to success!

Step 15

- Gently work those ESD tweezers under the vibration motor and wiggle it free from the bottom of the screen unit. You got this!

- Set that vibration motor aside like a seasoned pro!

Step 16

- Gently coax the camera out of its cozy spot by sliding those ESD tweezers between the adhesive and the camera guide. You're doing awesome!

- Once the camera is free, take a moment to set it aside with care.

Step 17

- Give that fingerprint sensor some freedom by gently coaxing its connector off the USB board. Let it take a little break from all that connecting!

Step 18

- Start by loosening those three Phillips screws that are keeping the USB board snug as a bug.

- Once they're loose, gently pry that board out of the device like a pro!

Step 19

- Gently slide those ESD tweezers under the fingerprint sensor and give it a little nudge to detach it from the bottom of the screen unit. You're doing great!

- Once it's free, set that sensor aside and give yourself a little high-five!

Step 20

- Get your new screen ready by peeling off any protective films from the back. Easy peasy!

- To avoid any accidental scratches, you can totally leave the film on the front until the very end of the repair. No worries!

Step 21

- Pop that fingerprint sensor into its snug little guide on the screen unit and give it a confident press. You're nailing this!

Step 22

- Slide that USB board back into its home in the screen unit – easy peasy!

- Secure it with those three Phillips screws. You're a repair rockstar!

Step 23

- Reconnect the fingerprint sensor by gently pressing its connector onto the board. You should hear a satisfying click as it locks into place!

Step 24

- Settle that front camera back into its home, and give it a nice, firm press. You're doing great!

Step 25

- Place that vibration motor snugly back into its little guide and give it a gentle press. You've got this!

Step 26

- Pop that motherboard back into your device, making sure it fits snugly and level all around.

- Secure it in place with a single Phillips screw. You're on the right track!

Step 27

- Reconnect the front camera and volume buttons by gently pressing their connectors onto the board. You're almost there!

Step 28

- Slide that battery back into its cozy little guide and give it a good press. The leftover glue on the back of the battery usually does a great job of keeping it snug and secure!

Step 29

- Line up those two connecting cables in a neat little row and snap their connectors onto the USB and motherboard. You're doing fantastic!

Step 30

- Align the screen cable in the device and attach its two connectors on the motherboard and the separate slot in the screen unit.

Step 31

- Pop that speaker back where it belongs – easy peasy!

- Secure it with those six Phillips screws. You're a repair superstar!

Step 32

- Get ready to rock this repair journey! Position the charging coil above your device.

- Time to connect the cool black charging coil connector and the orange battery connector to the motherboard. You're on your way to repair success!

Step 33

- Slide that board cover into its guide, making sure it sits nice and level all around.

- Reconnect its glued end to the speaker with a gentle touch.

- Secure the cover in place using those nine Phillips screws. You're doing awesome!

Step 34

- Give your Galaxy a little boost and power it back up!

- Once it’s awake, test out that touch function by sliding an app across the screen. You're on the right track!

Step 35

- Peel off the carrier film from the bottom of the adhesive frame and press it onto the edge of the back cover. A spudger can totally help you with this.

- Now, gently peel off the remaining protective film from the top of the adhesive frame.

Step 36

- Wrap up your Galaxy S21 FE 5G repair by gently pressing the back cover back onto the screen unit. You've got this!

- Once you've got that back cover snugly in place, go ahead and slide the SIM tray back in. Listen for that satisfying click – it means everything's locked in just right!
