Having trouble with your wireless charging on the Galaxy S9? It might be time to swap out the NFC antenna. This guide will walk you through replacing it, so you can get back to charging your phone without the hassle. If you run into any trouble, don't worry – you can always schedule a repair for some extra help!
Step 1
Tap the tiny Play button in the top right corner of an image to watch a video for each step. It's super helpful and fun!
- To power down your device, simply press and hold the power button until the “Power off” option pops up.
- Give that power button a tap with your finger to confirm you're ready to bid adieu to your device, and just chill until the screen goes dark.
Step 2
- Warm up the area where you're about to get started and then stick a suction cup on the bottom of the back cover.
- Slide a flat tool between the back cover and the frame while gently pulling on the suction cup.
Handle that back cover with care, my friend! It's a bit fragile and can snap like a twig if you're not careful. If things get tricky, don't hesitate to warm it up a couple more times and give it another go. Just a heads up, this might take around half an hour, so take your time and work with a gentle touch to keep everything intact. You've got this! And if you ever feel stuck, just remember you can always schedule a repair.
The iPlastix is crafted from plastic, so it’s gentle on your device and won’t leave any scratches. However, it's a bit on the softer side and can be a little tricky to get in place. Just take your time, and if you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 4
10 × 4.0 mm Phillips
This phone has just two types of screws to deal with. If any screws are being stubborn and won’t budge, grab a pair of tweezers to give you a hand. Remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
- The NFC tag is snugly held in place by the logic board cover at the top.
- Gently lift it up a bit and then slide it out with care.
Step 5
If the cable is being a bit stubborn, try using a heat gun to gently warm up the glue. It should make things a lot easier! And remember, if you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
- Gently slide a steel spatula into the spot where the wireless charging coil is stuck to the NFC antenna and carefully pop off the connection.
- Next, use that trusty spatula to unstick the side antenna unit.
- Now, take your time and slowly pull the entire flex cable away from the cover.
Step 6
- Let's get that NFC antenna back where it belongs! Use those nifty little plastic pins on the cover to help you line it up just right.
- Next up, gently press the flex cable against the back of the cover to stick it down nice and secure.
- Finally, pop the plastic cover back on the NFC tag and give it a good press to make sure it's snug.
Step 7
10 × 4.0 mm Phillips
- Now, grab the midframe and line up the NFC tag. Attach it carefully, making sure everything clicks into place.
- Press around the edges to make sure it's snug and secure. No rush here, just a solid fit.
- Finally, screw everything back in nice and tight. We're almost there!
Step 8
Fingerprint connector
- First things first, before you pop that back cover back on, let's get that fingerprint sensor reconnected. It's like giving your device a little hug!
- Now, gently position the back cover over your device and give it a little lift—just enough to access the connector. Try to keep that back glass steady and close to the device; we want it to feel cozy!
- Grab a plastic tool, like a spudger, to reach the connector and give it a little push down. If you're feeling fancy, ESD tweezers or the ESD spudger will do the trick too! Just remember to take a deep breath and keep those hands steady. You've got this!
Step 9
Heads up! Once you crack open your smartphone, its water resistance takes a little vacation. Keep that in mind as you dive into the repair!
- Before you put the back cover back on, take a moment to check the glue. It should be spread out evenly on the back cover. If there's any extra glue hanging around, feel free to remove it.
- Next up, give the back cover a gentle press.
- Now, let's heat things up a bit! Warm the back cover again to help the glue stick nicely.
- While the glue is cooling, you can give the back cover a little love with your fingers. Press gently and let it bond!
