How To Patch Ripped Cotton Pants: A Clothing Repair Guide
How to Patch a Ripped Crotch in Cotton Pants
Are you tired of dealing with ripped pants? Don’t worry, Salvation Repair is here to help. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to patch a ripped crotch in cotton pants. This is a simple and effective way to extend the life of your favorite pants.
Step 1: Prepare the Pants
Place the pants in front of you with the right side facing outwards. Make sure the ripped area is clean and free of any unnecessary threads or excess fabric.
Step 2: Measure the Ripped Area
Measure the ripped area to determine the size of the patch you’ll need. It doesn’t have to be an exact measurement, but it will give you an idea of how big the patch should be.
Step 3: Choose the Fabric
Choose two strips of fabric that match the color of your pants and are twice the size of the tear. For this guide, we’ll use a different color fabric to provide better contrast.
Step 4: Connect the Fabric Strips
Put the two strips of fabric back to back, with the inside of the fabric facing you. Connect the two pieces of fabric by putting the pin head needles on a straight line on the raw edge of the fabric.
Step 5: Sew the Fabric Strips
Thread a hand sewing needle with a thread color that matches the pants. Make sure to leave a large tail, about 50 cm. Push the needle up through the underside of the fabric and pull the needle up until there is some thread on the other side. Repeat until you stitch all the way down the edge of the fabric.
Step 6: Sew the Patch to the Pants
Put the piece of fabric, facing the inside, on the ripped area of the pants. Use pin head needles to connect the fabric to the ripped area of the pants. Sew the fabric to the pants using the stitches as your guide.
Step 7: Iron the Pants
Iron the pants on both sides to flatten the fabric and make it look better.
And that’s it! You’ve successfully patched a ripped crotch in cotton pants.
