MacBook Pro A1989 Won’t Turn On? Here’s a Step-by-Step Repair Guide
Is your MacBook Pro A1989 refusing to turn on? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered At Salvation Repair, we offer a limited lifetime guarantee on all parts and labor, and our expert technicians are here to guide you through the repair process. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the steps to diagnose and fix the issue.
Step 1: Check the Power Button and Power Cable
First, ensure that the power button is functioning correctly. Press the power button and check if the MacBook turns on. If it doesn’t, try plugging in the power cable and check the input voltage using a DC Power Supply. In this case, the input voltage is 20V, but the current reading stays at 0.047A.
Step 2: Disassemble the MacBook and Test the Motherboard
Next, we need to disassemble the MacBook and test the motherboard. Remove the screws and disconnect the battery connector flex cable. Plug in the BY-3200 power cable and set the input voltage to 5V. The current reading on the DC Power Supply stays at 0.059A, indicating that the motherboard is malfunctioning.
Step 3: Identify the Faulty Component
After testing the motherboard, we need to identify the faulty component. The motherboard number is 820-00850-07. Open the schematic diagram and bitmap to locate the T2 chip (U3900) and the power chip (U7800). Measure the standby voltage of the T2 chip, which is supplied by the U7800.
Step 4: Replace the SoC ROM Chip
After identifying the faulty component, we need to replace the SoC ROM chip. Remove the SoC ROM chip with a Hot Air Gun at 430℃. Get the BY-T200 and write the new SoC ROM data. Attach the chip to the seat of BY-T200, ensuring that Pin 1 of the chip aligns with the red dot on the tool.
Step 5: Reassemble the MacBook and Test
After replacing the SoC ROM chip, reassemble the MacBook and test it. Plug in the power cable and press the power button. The MacBook should turn on and enter the system. If the issue persists, contact Salvation Repair for further assistance.
