Hp Officejet 100 Printer Repair Tutorial
HP Officejet 100: A Step-by-Step Guide to Replacing a Broken Spring
Is your HP Officejet 100 displaying a ‘Paper Jam’ error, and refusing to budge even after you’ve opened and closed the front door? Don’t worry, you’re not alone! This common issue can be fixed by replacing a broken spring, and we’re here to guide you through the process.
Before we begin, make sure you have the following tools and materials ready:
- T-10 Torx screwdriver
- Spudger
- Plastic spudger
- Replacement spring
Step 1: Remove the Printer from the Optional Second Paper Tray
Pull out the paper tray from the front, and the duplexer from the rear. This will give you access to the printer’s internal components.
Step 2: Remove the Print Head (Optional)
Removing the print head may reduce the chance of ink leakage while working on the printer. Refer to the HP user guide for instructions on how to remove the print head.
Step 3: Detach the Control Panel
Step 4: Remove the Display
Lift the display further up, and reach behind the brown plastic cover. Pull it forwards to release it.
Step 5: Remove the Scanner Assembly
On the back of the printer, remove the two screws on the right-hand side (left-hand when viewed from the front). Open the door on the front of the computer, and remove the one screw on the lower left-hand side.
Step 6: Remove the Rear Panel
Using multiple tools and considerable force, unclip the power button cover from the bottom. Concentrate on the points marked with arrows. This is the location of the clips. Forcing a plastic spudger in at these points should release this cover.
Step 7: Remove the Cleaning Station
Remove the two bolts holding the steel rod to the chassis, and slide it out of the printer. Undo the two bolts holding the right side of the carriage support.
Step 8: Replace the Broken Spring
Open the clips on each side of the bar, allowing the spring retainer to move. Slide the bar out the left-hand side of the cleaning station, pulling the end cog and the spring retainer off the bar.
Step 9: Reassemble the Printer
Follow the steps in reverse to reassemble the printer. Make sure to secure all screws and clips tightly.
