Duration: 45 min.
Steps: 16 Steps
Ready to tackle that pesky speaker issue? With our handy guide, you can swap out that faulty speaker in no time! Just a heads up, this repair is a bit trickier since the display is glued in, but don't worry! Armed with the right tools and our easy-to-follow instructions, you'll have that speaker replaced like a pro! Let's get to it!
Step 1
- Hey there! Before you dive into the repair, let’s make sure your iPhone 11 stays safe and sound. First things first, power it down completely. Just press and hold the Standby button along with one of the volume buttons for about three seconds. Easy peasy!
- Once you see the slider pop up with the message 'Turn off', give it a gentle swipe from left to right. Voilà! Your phone will shut down in about ten seconds flat. You're doing great!
Step 2
2 × 6,8 mm Pentalobe
Opening up your device means saying goodbye to that sweet IP68 dust and splash resistance. So, keep it cool and handle with care!
- Alright, let's get down to business! On the lower side of your device, right next to the Lightning connector, you'll spot two Pentalobe screws just waiting to be removed. Grab your trusty screwdriver and take them out! Once you've got them, toss them onto the magnetic pad so they don't go wandering off. You've got this!

Step 3
- First things first, let’s give your iPhone 11 a comfy spot on a soft, clean surface. This way, we keep the back of your device scratch-free while we work our magic!
- To lift that screen, you're going to need a suction cup, a hard plastic plectrum, and a hot air dryer. If your glass is looking like a jigsaw puzzle, slap a strip of parcel tape on it first to shield yourself from those pesky splinters.
- Now, let’s heat things up! Use your hairdryer to warm the edge of the display to about 60° C (140° F). This will make the glue easier to deal with.
- Time to get that suction cup in action! Place it on the lower edge of your iPhone. Use the key ring on the suction cup to gently lift the display while you slide the hard plastic plectrum between the case and display frame, pressing the case frame down. Keep that plectrum moving all around the iPhone to break the display adhesive free!
Hey there! Just a friendly reminder: when you're using that tool, keep it to about 5mm deep inside your iPhone. We want to avoid any accidental damage to the precious components inside. This is especially crucial near the standby button, where those delicate flex cables from the display are hanging out. Let's keep everything safe and sound!
Feel free to swap in an iFlex instead of that hard plastic plectrum! Just keep in mind, it might leave a few scratches on your frame. But hey, a little character never hurt anyone, right?
Step 4
- Grab your Y-type Y000 screwdriver and get ready to tackle those Y-type screws holding the metal cover in place. Once you've got them out, be sure to gather all your parts and place them in a designated area on your magnetic mat. Keep everything organized and you're all set!

Apple decided to shake things up with the iPhone 7 by introducing Y-type screws! You might have heard some folks call them Tri-Point or Tri-Wing, but that’s just not right! To tackle these little guys, make sure you grab the right screwdriver so you don’t end up marring those screw heads. You've got this!

Step 5
3 × 1,1 mm Y-Type
Battery connector
- Let's kick things off by removing the screws that hold the cover plate snugly over the battery contact. Easy, right?
- Once you've got that cover plate off, make sure to gather all those little parts and place them on your trusty magnetic mat. It's like a home for your screws!
- Now, gently lift the battery contact using a spudger. Give it a little bend to the side, but remember to use a plastic spudger to keep everything safe and sound. No short circuits on our watch!
Step 6
4 × 1,5 mm Phillips
1 × 1,2 mm Phillips
The best way to keep track of those sneaky screws is by using a magnetic pad! Just pop them on there as you go, and they'll stick around like loyal friends. No more worrying about losing them in the abyss of your workspace!
- Unscrew the cover plate that's keeping the speaker cozy! Just a little heads up—those screws come in different lengths, so keep an eye on them to avoid mixing them up. You're on the right track!
Step 7
3 × 1,5 mm Phillips
Taptic Engine Connector
- First up, gently peel off the slightly glued rubber cover that's cozying up to the Taptic Engine's contact. No need to rush!
- Next, take a moment to loosen those screws on both sides of the Taptic Engine. You're doing great!
- Now, carefully remove the cover plate and use a spudger to ease off the contact. Take your time—you're almost there!
- Finally, give yourself a pat on the back because you can now remove the Taptic Engine. Nice work!
Step 8
2 × 1,5 mm Phillips
1 × 3,0 mm Standoff
2,3 mm Standoff
One of the screws is also in charge of holding a little metal clip. Keep track of how this clip is oriented, so you can pop it back in just right later! There's another screw that secures a tiny flex cable, and guess what? There's yet another screw hiding underneath. You've got this!
- Alright, time to get those screws out! Locate the screws that are holding the speaker snug in its cozy little spot. Grab your screwdriver and give them a twist! You're on the right track!
Step 9
2 × 1,5 mm Phillips
1 × 3,0 mm Standoff
2,3 mm Standoff
- Make sure not to let that adhesive cover the speaker openings—give it a quick check before moving on!
- Now it's time to gently place the speaker back where it belongs. A little press will help the glue do its thing.
- Secure the speaker with the right screws to keep it snug and happy.
- Don't forget to connect that tiny flex cable too!
- Finally, use your tweezers to put the metal clip back in its spot and screw it on tight.
Step 10
3 × 1,5 mm Phillips
Taptic Engine Connector
- Alright, let’s get that Taptic Engine back into its cozy little spot in the iPhone! Just make sure those screw holes align perfectly—no pressure!
- Now, plug in the Taptic Engine connector, pop the cover back on, and secure it with the screws. You're nailing this!
- And don’t forget to put the rubber cover back on. You're almost there!
Step 11
4 × 1,5 mm Phillips
1 × 1,2 mm Phillips
- Pop that cover plate back on like a champ and secure it with the right screws. You've got this!
Step 12
3 × 1,5 mm Phillips
Battery connector
- Alright, let's get that contact snugly back onto the logic board—just place it right where it belongs and give it a little press to seal the deal!
- Now, it's time to put that metal cover back on and secure it with the screws. You're almost done, keep it up!
Step 13
- First, let's tidy up that metal frame and display by removing any leftover adhesive residue. This way, your new adhesive frame will fit just right!
- You're all set to stick on the new glue frame! Just peel off the first protective film and get ready to roll.
- Start by placing the adhesive frame on one edge of the case. From there, gently work your way around the device, applying it bit by bit. Hold off on pressing it down firmly until you're sure it's in the right spot. A plastic spudger can be your best buddy here!
- Now, go ahead and peel off the next large protective foil.
- And remember, don't take off that last small protective film until you've connected the display and secured the cover plates. This little trick helps keep everything nice and clean on the adhesive frame!
Just a friendly reminder: your iPhone won't be rocking that 100% waterproof vibe after this repair! So, keep it dry and treat it gently!
In our photos, we’ll guide you through the process of applying the adhesive frame, showcasing the iPhone 8 as our trusty example. Don't sweat it—iPhone 11 shares a similar vibe, so you can apply the adhesive just the same way!
Step 14
Touch connector
Display connector
Earpiece connector
5 × 1,1 mm Y-Type
Make sure those connectors slide right into their cozy spots on the device! Avoid dragging them across the Logicboard slots, or you might end up giving those contacts a rough day!
- Alright, let's get that display unit back onto the frame! To keep those delicate flexible cables from overstretching, lean the screen against something sturdy. Just a little caution: make sure your iPhone doesn’t decide to make a run for it while you're working!
- Once that's done, it's time to reconnect the two display connectors and the earcup connector. You've got this!
- Now, secure the cover plate using screws of the same length. Nice and easy!
Step 15
- Alright, are you feeling good about everything? If so, it's time to bring that display back home! Grab it with both hands, hover it over the frame, and gently press it down. Take it slow!
- Once the frame is snug, you can start pressing it down evenly all around. You're doing awesome!
Step 16
2 × 6,8 mm Pentalobe
- Grab those two pentalobe screws just hanging out to the left and right of the Lightning connector and pop them back into their cozy little spots in the enclosure. You're almost there!
