Step 1
- To keep your device safe from any pesky short circuits while you work your magic, be sure to power it down completely first.
- Give that sleep/wake button a good press until the 'Switch off' slider pops up on your screen.
- Slide that slider from left to right like a pro.
- In about ten seconds, your iPhone will be off and ready for some repair fun!
Step 2
- Grab your trusty Pentalobe screwdriver and get ready to tackle those two Pentalobe screws hanging out on either side of the Lightning connector.
- Once you've loosened those little guys, make sure to keep them safe and sound in a screw storage. You don’t want them going on a wild adventure!

To keep all those tiny parts and screws from going on an adventure of their own, we suggest using a screw organizer. An old sewing box works wonders for this! Here at Salvation Repair, we love using a nifty magnetic mat that keeps everything in line, just like it was when you took it out of your phone. So, let's keep it all together and make this repair a breeze!
Step 3
As a fun tip, heat your device just enough so it feels cozy to the touch – we don’t want any singed fingers here!
- First, set your iPhone 7 down on a soft, clean surface to keep that back cover looking sharp and scratch-free.
- Grab a hot air tool, like a heat gun or even a trusty hairdryer, and gently wave it around the edge of the screen. This will warm up the adhesive and make your life a whole lot easier!

Step 4
Opening up your iPhone 7 means saying goodbye to that warranty covering dust, splash, and waterproof protection. But hey, you’re about to become a repair pro!
- Once the edges of the display are nice and toasty, pop a suction cup right at the height of the home button.
- Give that suction cup a gentle pull upwards to create a slim gap between the aluminum frame and the display.
- While you’re at it, slide a flat, sturdy tool into that gap. A hard plastic plectrum works like a charm here.
- Now, let’s widen that gap a bit more by pushing the aluminum frame down with your tool. You got this!

Step 5
- Now, take that trusty pick and glide it around the display like a pro! As you do, give the display a gentle lift to help those little noses release from the aluminum frame.
Hey there! Just a friendly reminder to keep those picks from diving too deep near the sleep/wake button. We want to keep that display flex cable safe and sound while you work your magic!
Keep that edge of the display nice and toasty while you place those flat picks in the frame. This way, the glue won’t get any funny ideas about sticking back together in the areas you've already loosened. You’re doing great!

Step 6
1 × 2,4 mm Y-Type
3 × 1,0 mm Y-Type
Battery connector
Start off your repair journey by loosening the battery connector. This nifty step will help keep pesky short circuits at bay and ensure your iPhone 7 doesn’t accidentally spring to life while you're in the zone!
- Grab your Y-type screwdriver and get ready to loosen those four Y-type screws like a pro! Once they're all nice and loose, gently lift off the bracket plate that's cozying up to the battery connector.
Step 7
Display connector
Home button connector
When you're popping off those display connectors, make sure to start from the side without any tiny components hanging around. This little trick helps you dodge any potential mishaps. You're doing awesome!
- Now let's gently part ways with those two display connectors – the one for the display and the home button. Use your trusty plastic spudger just like before, and you'll be on your way!

Step 8
2 × 1,2 mm Phillips
FaceTime connector
When you're detaching the FaceTime connector, kick things off from the side that’s free of tiny components. This clever move helps you dodge any potential oopsies. You've got this!
- To kick things off, let's unscrew those two Phillips screws that are keeping the bracket plate snugly over the FaceTime connector. Once they're out, you can gently lift that plate away and set it aside.
Step 9
1 × 2,3 mm Phillips-Schraube
1 × 1,3 mm Phillips-Schraube
- First, let’s get those two Phillips screws out from the bracket plate that holds the iSight camera snugly in the back cover. No need to rush, take your time!
- Once the plate is free, gently disconnect the iSight camera from the mainboard. A spudger is your best friend here; just slide it under the connector and lift it off with care. Easy peasy!
- Now, let’s pop that camera out of its cozy spot in the back cover and set it aside for a moment. You’re doing great!
Step 10
- Pop that shiny new iSight camera right into its cozy spot at the top of the back cover and connect it to the logic board. Give that camera connector a little press until you hear a satisfying click – that's it locking in place!
- Now, let's bring back the bracket plate over the iSight camera and secure it with those trusty Phillips screws. You're doing awesome!
Step 11
Despite the attachment of a new adhesive frame, your iPhone 7 is no longer 100% waterproof after repair.
Let's get down to business and learn how to attach that adhesive frame! We'll be using the iPhone 8 as our trusty example, but don't worry, the process is just as smooth for the iPhone 7. Ready? Let’s do this!
- Before you pop on that new adhesive frame, let's do a little spring cleaning! Make sure to wipe away all the old adhesive residue from the back cover and display frame. We want that new frame to fit like a glove!
- Once you've got a clean slate, go ahead and lay the adhesive frame on the back cover. Give it a little nudge to align it just right. You're on the right track!

Step 12
FaceTime connector
2 × 1,2 mm Phillips
When you're detaching the FaceTime connector, it's a smart move to lean the display against something sturdy. This way, those flex cables won’t get too stretched out and will stay happy while you work your magic!
- To get that display unit snugly back onto the logic board, start by positioning it upright at the top of the back cover like a champ.
- Next, reconnect the FaceTime camera by giving its connector a gentle press with your finger until you hear that satisfying click.
- Once everything is connected, just lay the display down beside the back cover. You're doing fantastic!
Step 13
Display connector
Home button connector
- Time to bring everything back together! Just reconnect the home button and display connector to the logic board, and you'll be one step closer to a fully functioning device!
Step 14
1 × 2,4 mm Y-Type
3 × 1,0 mm Y-Type
- Next up, reconnect that battery connector like a pro!
- After that, it's time to place the bracket plate back over the battery connector and secure it with those four Y-type screws. You've got this!
Step 15
- First, gently place the display next to the back cover frame and fold it over with care.
- Now, slide the display towards the sleep/wake button so the lugs catch perfectly into the back cover.
- Finally, press down on the display across its entire surface to secure it snugly.
Wrong position
Right position
Just a friendly heads-up: make sure that shiny silver chip on the cable is lined up in the same spot as before (check out the photo!). If it’s off-kilter, you might see some funky discolorations and spots on your screen after you wrap things up. If that happens, no worries—just adjust the cable position again and you’ll be back on track!
Step 16
2 × 3,3 mm Pentalobe
- Alright, time to snug those two Pentalobe screws back in place, one on the left and one on the right of the Lightning connector. You're almost there!
