iPhone X – Removing the logicboard
Duration: 90 min.
Steps: 19 Steps
So, your iPhone X just had a little swim? No worries! It’s a good idea to give that logicboard a nice clean to prevent any sneaky corrosion from crashing the party. Our repair instructions will guide you through the process step by step. Good luck with the logicboard removal! If you find our guide helpful, we’d love for you to give it a thumbs up! Remember, a clean logicboard is a happy logicboard!
Step 1
- Before diving into the repair fun, make sure to power down your iPhone X to keep it safe and sound. Just press and hold the standby button along with one of the volume buttons for about three seconds, and you're golden!
- When you see the 'Power Off' slider pop up on your screen, swipe it from left to right. Your iPhone will take a little nap and shut down completely in about 10 seconds. Easy peasy!
Step 2
- Unscrew those two pentalobe screws hanging out on either side of the Lightning connector and toss them into your trusty screw storage box. They’ll be safe and sound there!
2 × 6,8 mm Pentalobe
To keep all those tiny screws and components from playing hide and seek, we suggest using a screw storage box. An old sewing box can work wonders for this! We love using a high-quality magnetic pad during our repairs, where we neatly arrange the removed components just like they were before. This way, you’ll know exactly where each screw belongs, making reassembly a breeze!

When it comes to warming up your device, aim for just the right touch—warm enough to be cozy but not so hot that it feels like you just opened the oven door! Keep it chill, and you'll be good to go.
- Gently set your iPhone X on a soft, clean surface—let's keep that back looking sharp while we lift the display!
- Now, grab your hot air tool—be it a trusty hairdryer or a hot air gun—and glide it along the glued edge of the display. Let's warm things up just right!

Step 4
Once you pop open that iPhone X, the waterproof party is over—no more warranty for keeping those pesky water droplets at bay! Plus, the IP67 dust and splash protection warranty takes a little vacation too.
- Stick that suction cup right on the bottom edge of your device and give it a gentle tug upwards—this will create a nice little gap between the stainless steel and display frame.
- Now, grab a sturdy, flat tool and slide it into that gap to widen it up a bit. While you're at it, give the display a little nudge upwards with the tool, using those flat plastic picks to help out.

- Gently nudge that display upwards from the aluminum frame with your trusty hard plastic plectrum. You got this!
- Once the display is free, gently fold it over towards the standby button. It's like giving it a little hug!

- Grab your spudger and gently wiggle those connectors free from the Logicboard, one by one. Just a heads up, the earpiece flex cable at the top of the display might be feeling a bit clingy due to some glue.
- Once you've disconnected all the connectors, you can wave goodbye to the display and remove it completely. You're doing awesome!

- First, let's loosen those two Phillips screws holding the iSight camera bracket plate in place. Easy does it!
- Next, gently lift the little eyelet at the top edge of the rear case that’s keeping the bracket plate secure. You've got this!
- Now, grab your trusty spudger and carefully separate the two connectors of the iSight camera from the logicboard. Nice and steady!
- Finally, with a delicate touch, use the spudger to pry the camera out of its cozy spot and set it aside. You're doing great!
Step 10

- Give those loose flex cables a little nudge to the side before you slide the logicboard back into the back cover. We want to keep everything cozy and avoid any jam-ups!
- Pop that small metal cover back where it belongs and secure it with a screw or two.
- Fasten the logicboard down with the remaining screws—let's keep it snug!
- Now it's time to reconnect all those connectors. You're almost there!
Step 13
When you're sliding that SIM card tray back in, it should glide in smoothly—like butter on toast! If you feel any serious resistance, it might mean the logicboard is playing hard to get. Let's make sure everything is snug and seated just right!
- Gently slide that SIM card tray back into its cozy spot in the back cover frame. It should glide in smoothly—just like a well-rehearsed dance move!
Step 14
- Gently slide the iSight camera back into its designated spot in the enclosure and give it a gentle squeeze to secure it.

Before you pop in that iSight camera, give the lens a little love! Make sure it's free of dust and fingerprints, both on the lens itself and inside the camera cover. A clean camera is a happy camera!
Make sure that the little metal eyelet is happily resting above the metal cover. It's all about that perfect fit!
Step 15
- To make sure that your shiny new adhesive frame fits like a glove, start by giving the stainless steel and display frames a good scrub to get rid of any leftover adhesive residue. No sticky situations here!
- Once you've got a clean slate, align that adhesive frame just right and peel off the protective film from the bottom—let's get sticking!
After sticking on that fresh adhesive strip, your iPhone is back in action, keeping out dust and splashes like a champ! Just a friendly reminder though, it's not fully waterproof—so let's keep it away from the deep end!
The corners of the adhesive frame are uniquely shaped, making it super easy to line it up perfectly with your device's frame. Just follow the groove, and you'll be all set!
