Preparation

Remove the two screws securing the display data cable bracket to the upper case. One of these screws is 7 mm Phillips, while the other is 5 mm Phillips.

Step 5: Remove the Display Brackets

Use your Torx driver to remove the two outer 6.5 mm screws securing each of the two display brackets to the upper case (4 screws total). Mid 2009 models require a T6 Torx driver, while Mid 2010 models require a T8.

Step 6: Remove the AirPort Card

Remove the single 3 mm Phillips screw securing the AirPort card to the display nearest the AirPort antenna. Then, carefully pull the AirPort card away from its heat sink and remove it from the display.

Step 7: Install the New AirPort Card

Before installing a new AirPort card, be sure the thermal material on its surface is intact and aligned with the small heat sink on the display frame. Then, secure the AirPort card to the display using the 3 mm Phillips screw.
