DIY Guide to Replace MacBook Pro 13 Airport Antenna

Get ready to tackle the replacement of your AirPort antenna assembly! With this guide in hand, you’ll breeze through the process like a pro. Just follow the steps, and if you hit a snag, remember, you can always schedule a repair for some extra help!

Step 1

– Time to get your hands a little dirty! Start by unscrewing the 10 screws that are keeping the lower case snugly attached to your MacBook Pro 13″ Unibody. You’ve got this!

Step 2

– Gently raise the bottom cover and slide it toward the back of the device to release those sneaky mounting tabs.

Step 3

– Gently coax the battery connector up and out of its snug little home on the logic board using the flat end of a spudger. You’ve got this!

Step 4

– Grab that trusty spudger and gently wiggle the flat end underneath the subwoofer/right speaker cable connector. Give it a little lift to free it from its snug spot on the logic board. You’ve got this!

Step 5

– Gently slide the camera cable out of its socket, moving it horizontally to disconnect. Easy peasy!

Step 6

– Gently guide the camera data cable out of its cozy little channel in the optical drive. You’ve got this!

Step 7

– Time to tackle those screws holding the camera data cable and right speaker snugly in the upper case! Unscrew them with care.

– Now, slide that camera cable bracket out from its cozy spot under the subwoofer and gently take it out of the computer.

Step 8

– Give that plastic pull tab a gentle tug and rotate it toward the DC-in side of your computer, just like a dance move!

– Now, pull the display data cable connector straight out from its socket—easy peasy!

Step 9

– Unscrew those two little screws that are holding the display data cable bracket snugly against the upper case. You’ve got this!

– Now, gently lift the display data cable bracket out of the upper case. Easy peasy!

Step 10

– Grab your trusty Torx driver and let’s tackle those outer screws! You’ll want to unscrew the two 6.5 mm screws holding each of the display brackets to the upper case—there are four screws in total waiting for your expert touch.

Step 11

– Let’s get that MacBook open, making sure the display is standing tall and proud at a right angle to the upper case!

– Now, gently place your MacBook on a flat surface, just like in the picture – we want it to feel comfy while we work.

– With your left hand holding the display and upper case snugly together, grab your Torx driver and tackle that last 6.5 mm screw from the lower display bracket. You’ve got this!

Step 12

– Say goodbye to that last little 6 mm Torx screw holding the display snug against the upper case. Time to set it free!

Step 13

– Take hold of the upper case with your right hand and give it a gentle twist toward the top of the display, making sure the upper display bracket glides past the edge of the upper case.

– Now, ease the display away from the upper case just a little bit.

Step 14

– Gently lift the display away from the upper case, keeping an eye out for any brackets or cables that might want to tag along for the ride.

Step 15

– Grab that clutch cover and give it a gentle slide to the right side of the display, just like a smooth dance move!

Step 16

– Gently wiggle the clutch cover side to side while pulling it away from the display. Think of it as a little dance move!

– Keep grooving along the length of the clutch cover until it’s ready to pop off the framework that’s keeping it snug against the display.

Step 17

– Gently take off the clutch cover from the display. It’s easier than it sounds, so don’t sweat it!

Step 18

– Gently use the tip of a spudger to pop both AirPort antenna connectors out of their cozy sockets on the AirPort board. You’ve got this!

Step 19

– Unscrew the four 3 mm Phillips screws that are holding the antenna bracket snugly to the display. You’ve got this!

Step 20

– Gently detach the AirPort antenna from the display, keeping an eye on those pesky antenna connectors that might want to hitch a ride.
