Step 1
Hey there! The adhesive on the Samsung Galaxy S9 is super strong, so be ready for a little workout. If the iOpener isn't doing the trick, feel free to bring in a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate to help you out. Just remember, don’t go overboard with the heat – both the AMOLED display and the internal battery can get a bit cranky if things get too toasty.
- First thing's first, power off your phone.
- Warm up that iOpener and apply it to one side of your phone to loosen the adhesive under the rear glass. Keep it there for a solid two minutes.

If the rear glass of your phone is feeling a bit cracked, the suction cup might have a tough time sticking. Give it a go with some sturdy tape, or for a more creative approach, try supergluing the suction cup in place and let it set for a bit. Then you'll be all set to dive into the repair adventure!
- Start by placing a suction cup on the back cover. You've got this!
- Gently lift the bottom edge of the back cover with your suction cup to create a little gap between the cover and the frame.
- Slide an opening pick into that gap you just made and glide it over to the bottom right corner.
- Now, grab a second opening pick and slide it over to the bottom left corner.
- To keep things from sticking back together, insert a third opening pick to hold the adhesive at bay while you continue with the removal process.
Step 4
- Gently slide the opening pick from the bottom left corner up along the side, like a whisper in the wind.
- Now, glide the pick around the top corner and let it stay there as your trusty sidekick to keep the adhesive at bay.
Step 5
Before tearing into the device, hold up a sec! Remember, that delicate fingerprint cable is keeping things connected between the back cover and the motherboard.
- Gently glide your opening pick from the bottom right corner up the side to the top.
- Wrap that pick around the corner and slice through the last bit of adhesive at the top of the phone.
Step 6
- Gently lift the side of the rear glass where the volume button is.
- Grab a spudger and use its edge to pop up and disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
