Heads up! Make sure to double-check everything before diving in. If you find yourself in a bind, don’t hesitate to schedule a repair and let the pros handle it!
Ready to tackle the challenge of swapping out the pneumatic spring in your Strive AL 6.0 Race? Let’s dive in and make it happen together! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
- Before you dive into the dismount adventure of your pneumatic spring, give that shapeshifter lever a quick press to ensure your bike is all set in XC mode.
- To ease up on that tensile stress, twist the adjuster on your shapeshifter cable as close to the lever as you can get. You've got this!
Step 2
To keep things flowing smoothly and make everything more accessible, we’ve got a trusty bike stand in our toolkit.
- Grab your trusty 4mm allen key and gently loosen the screw hanging out on the upper left side of your shapeshifter.
- Take a metal spudger and use it to pry open the cap on the left side of the rocker. You've got this!
- Attach a 10mm socket wrench to your Canyon torque wrench and carefully remove the 10mm screw nut hiding beneath the cap. Keep up the great work!

Step 3
- Grab your trusty 6mm allen key and go ahead and loosen that stud bolt on the left side of the seat strut hinge. You've got this!
Step 4
If you pull the shaft out too far, your entire bike might just throw a fit and break down... or at least that's the idea!
- Grab your trusty 6mm allen key and give a little twist to loosen the shaft of the rocker bearing located on the right side of the frame.
- Now, gently pull the shaft out about 2cm from its cozy home in the bearing.
- Carefully remove the left side cover of the rocker, but watch out for those tiny spacers hiding behind it! They're little, and it's easy to misplace them.
Step 5
- Grab your trusty 5mm allen key and give that bolt damper a twist! Just remember to keep a steady grip on its buddy with your other hand!
- Next up, gently pry off the plastic cover. It's a little feisty and likes to hang on tight, so take your time to avoid any breakage. You've got this!
Step 6
- If you've got a bike stand, gently lower the bike back down to the ground. Next, wiggle that damper out of the gas spring bracket with a little finesse.
- Now, let’s take it easy and lower the bike slowly, allowing the articulation to rest comfortably on the damper.
Step 7
- Take a moment to check it out closely; you'll spot the shifter cable tucked behind the right cover of the damper. Go ahead and unhook it!
- Once you've done that, you can smoothly slide the pneumatic spring off to the left side of its axis.
Step 8
- Snip or unclip the cap at the end of the pulling cable. Got some side cutters or a similar tool handy? Go ahead and use them to clip it off if that's your style!
- Grab a 2mm hex key and loosen that clamp on the pulling cable. You got this!
- With one hand, hold onto the pneumatic spring and with the other, grab the pulling cable. Now, gently pull the spring off the cable like a pro!
Step 9
- Slide the open end of the pulling cable back a few centimeters into the cable route. No need to rush, just a gentle push will do!
- Now, the cable should slip out of the bar lever of your damper. Grab it firmly and give it a good pull to free it up.
