Step 1
– Start by flipping the device so the screen is facing down.
– Position your laptop so that the battery is on the opposite side of you, with the headphone ports pointing towards you.
Step 2
You’ll know you’ve successfully unlocked the battery when the tab slides over to the unlocked symbol side – nice job!
– Slide the button just below the battery to the left to unlock it. It’s like giving your device a little nudge to let it do its thing.
Step 3
Be sure to hold the tab in place before pushing the battery in. You don’t want to accidentally give your device a rough time, so take it slow and steady!
– First, find the battery and the tab just to its right – it’s time to get this repair started!
– Now, gently pull the tab to the right while pushing the battery away from you – you’re making great progress!
Step 4
– Grab your Phillips #1 screwdriver with the 4.6 mm bit and gently unscrew the two screws at the bottom of the RAM cover. Easy peasy—just a couple of turns to loosen things up. If you need a hand along the way, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 5
– Let’s get started by carefully prying open the RAM cover. To do this, insert the opening tool and metal spudger into the gap between the two screws, and gently work them around until the cover comes loose.
Step 6
– Gently wiggle the opening tool around the edges of the cover to pop out the three clips that are holding it in place. Take your time and keep it friendly—you’re almost there! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 7
– Gently lift the cover and slide it back toward you to pop it off the device.
Step 8
The chip is designed to be released upward automatically once the tabs have been pushed.
– Gently push the white tabs on each side away from the chip to release it. Keep at it until they pop free. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 9
– Gently wiggle the chip upward and out to free it from the RAM slot.
Step 10
– Go ahead and repeat step 9 to gently detach the bottom chip from its cozy home in the RAM port.
