Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 7 Steps
Ready to swap out that busted speaker on your tablet? First up, you’ll need to carefully crack open the device—steps 1 through 3 will guide you there. Skip steps 4 and 5, and jump straight to step 6 where the magic happens: soldering the new speaker in place. Take it step by step, and if things get tricky, you can always schedule a repair to get a hand.
Step 1
– Unscrew the two 00 Phillips screws hanging out on the right side of your tablet. You’ve got this!
Step 2
As you peel off the cover, just a friendly reminder to take it easy! There are some wires snuggled up to the motherboard that are still attached to the back cover.
– Grab your trusty plastic opening tools and gently pry off that pink back plate like a pro—no scratches, just smooth moves!
Step 3
Hey there! To keep your device safe from pesky ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) that could zap its circuits, we highly suggest rocking a grounding bracelet. It’s a small step that makes a big difference!
– You’ll find the speaker chilling out in the top left corner of the tablet.
– Carefully peel back the electrical tape hiding the wires to reveal the connections underneath.
Step 4
Be extra careful with the motherboard – it’s the heart of your device! A little slip could cause big trouble.
– Carefully detach the malfunctioning speaker by desoldering the two wire connections. Make sure to take your time and stay steady – a little patience goes a long way.
Step 5
– Carefully peel away the tape securing the speaker in its spot.
Step 6
Using the pointy edge of your trusty spudger tool to gently nudge the speaker from the back side of the cover will make this step a breeze.
– Gently pop the speaker out of its cozy socket. Setting it aside will give you a bit more room to work your magic!
