iPhone 15 Pro Back Glass Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 19 Steps
Got a cracked or broken back glass on your iPhone 15 Pro? No worries! Follow this simple guide to get that glass replaced. If you're rocking iOS 18 or higher, you can pair new, genuine rear glass parts with Apple’s Repair Assistant. Don’t forget, you’ll need some replacement back glass adhesive to make this fix happen. Need a hand? If things get tricky, feel free to schedule a repair.
Step 1
Before diving into the repair, make sure your phone's battery is under 25%. A fully charged battery could be a bit too much to handle and might cause some fiery drama if mishandled.
- Disconnect every cable from your phone—give it some alone time.
- Press and hold the power button along with one of the volume buttons, then swipe to turn off your phone. Let it take a nap!
Step 2
Find a nice, smooth spot near the bottom edge that's just right for your suction cup to grab onto.
- Got a cracked screen or busted back glass? Layer some packing tape across the glass—overlap those strips like you’re making art. Keeps your fingers safe and makes taking things apart way less stressful.

Step 3
Be careful not to push that opening pick too deep; it could end up causing some trouble for your device. Take a moment to mark your pick to keep things safe and sound.
Feel free to add some unique measurements to the other corners of the pick for extra precision!
Another fun tip: you can stick a coin to the pick about 3 mm from the tip to help guide your way.
- Grab your opening pick and mark a spot 3 mm from the tip with a permanent marker to keep your edge game strong.
Step 4
- Grab your trusty P2 pentalobe screwdriver and unscrew the two 7mm screws on each side of the charging port. Easy peasy!
Step 5
Keep things cool—overheating the phone can mess with the battery.
- Grab your hair dryer or heat gun and warm up the bottom edge of the back glass until it feels nice and toasty.

Step 6
- Place the suction handle on the bottom edge of the back glass.
- Apply a firm, steady pull on the handle to create a little gap between the back glass and the frame.
- Gently insert the tip of an opening pick into the gap you just created.

Step 7
When slicing through the adhesive holding the back glass in place, watch out for the wireless charging cable near the volume buttons. It's like a hidden ninja waiting to surprise you!
Step 8
Keep your opening pick from diving deeper than 5 mm along the bottom edge—just a little nudge, no need to go deep!
- Glide your pick along the bottom edge, working it back and forth to loosen up that sticky adhesive.
- Keep your pick parked in the bottom left corner—it's your secret weapon to keep the glue from sneaking back together.
Step 9
- Warm up the left edge of the back glass until it feels nice and toasty to the touch.
Step 10
Keep your pick shallow—no more than 5 mm deep along the left edge to avoid any surprises.
- Pop a second opening pick to the left of your first—like starting a pick parade.
- Slide your new pick up to the top left corner of the back glass, cutting through that left-side sticky stuff.
- Leave this pick hanging out there, so the glue doesn't get any wild ideas about sealing itself back up.
Step 11
- Warm up the top edge of the back glass until it’s comfortably hot to the touch.
Step 12
Keep your pick shallow—no more than 5 mm along the top edge, or you might poke something you don’t want to!
If the top edge of the back glass is playing hard to get, it might be because the top clips are still holding on tight. Gently use the flat end of a spudger to nudge them inward, and they should pop right off. Patience is key!
- Slide a third opening pick into the top left corner of the back glass, like you’re opening a book you’re excited to read.
- Now, gently glide your pick over to the top right corner to loosen up that adhesive on the top edge. A little slide and glide, and you’re on your way!

Step 13
Careful not to slide your pick past the volume up button — you don't want to accidentally snip the wireless charging cable!
- Gently twirl your pick around the top right corner of the back glass.
- Carefully slide your pick over to the volume up button.
- Keep this pick in place to stop the adhesive from snapping back together.
Step 14
- Warm up the right edge of the back glass until it feels nice and toasty.
Step 15
Be careful not to slide your pick too far past the volume down button—there's a wireless charging cable hiding there, and we don't want to accidentally slice it.
- Pop a fourth opening pick in at the bottom edge of the back glass.
- Swing your pick around the bottom right corner of the back glass like a pro.
- Slide that pick over to the volume down button with style.
Step 16
If the back glass feels glued down tight, circle around the edges again to spot any sneaky adhesive spots or clips that didn’t let go.
- Carefully swing the back glass open from the right edge, giving it just the right amount of movement.
- Once it's open, rest the back glass gently against a box or something similar to avoid putting strain on the cable.
Step 17
- Grab your tri-point Y000 driver and spin out that 1.0 mm screw holding down the wireless charging connector cover—nice and easy.
- Next, use some tweezers to slide the cover out of its slot on the logic board and lift it away. Smooth moves!

Step 18
To snap a press connector back in, line it up with its socket and gently press down on one side until you hear that satisfying click, then do the same on the other side. Easy peasy!
- Gently use the tip of an opening pick to lift and unplug the wireless charging coil press connector.
Step 19
- When putting your iPhone back together, use this guide to apply adhesive and carefully install your back glass.
- After finishing your repair, if your replacement part supports it, you might be able to calibrate it using Apple's Repair Assistant (available starting with iOS 18). Just update your device, go to Settings → General → About → Parts & Service History, tap Restart & Finish Repair, and follow the easy prompts.
- Remember to recycle your old electronic parts responsibly by taking them to an R2 or e-Stewards certified recycler.
