Got a cracked main camera glass on your Smartab STJR700? No worries—you’ve got options! You can either swap out the glass on the lens or go for a full camera lens replacement. Removing just the glass while the device is still assembled is quicker and involves less hassle, but watch out for tiny glass shards sneaking into the camera. If you want to play it extra safe for your camera, replacing the entire lens is the way to go. It’ll take more time, and you’ll need to pop off the back panel, but it’s less risky overall. This process includes swapping out the glass lens and camera bezel, and you’ll need some fresh rear glass adhesive to seal the deal.
Step 1
– Let’s get started by taking off the back cover! Grab that trusty screwdriver from your toolkit and begin by unscrewing the screws on the back of the Smartab.
– Once those screws are out of the way, gently lift off the cover to reveal the inner workings of your tablet.
Step 2
– As you crack open the tablet, take a moment to admire the various components that keep everything running smoothly.
– Checking out the other parts? You’ll notice the camera is snugly held in place by screws, while the digitizer is sticking around thanks to some trusty black tape.
– When you carefully peel back that tape, you’ll discover that the digitizer is actually connected to the motherboard as well!

– Grab that trusty screwdriver again and loosen up the screws holding the camera on the tablet. You’re doing great!
– Next up, pick up those tweezers from your toolkit and carefully remove the digitizer from the hard drive—it’s precision time.
– Once you’ve got the digitizer out and the camera unscrewed, go ahead and completely remove them from the tablet. Look at you go!
– Pop in those replacement parts by reversing the steps you just did. You’ll need a soldering tool to reconnect the digitizer—steady hands win the day.

– First up, grab those tweezers and carefully pull away the shattered glass. If your shiny new lens comes with adhesive, make sure to clear away any remnants of the old adhesive from the frame. This way, your new lens will sit snugly and not stick out like a sore thumb!
– Once you’ve tackled the glass removal, it’s time to install your new camera lens. Peel off the protective film and fit the glass together with the ring. You’re almost there!
