iPhone 15 Pro Screen Replacement

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 23 Steps

Follow this guide to swap out a cracked, broken, or unresponsive screen on your iPhone 15 Pro. Make sure to have replacement screen adhesive handy to get the job done right. Heads up: because of Apple’s parts pairing rules, on iOS 17.6 and below, True Tone and auto brightness won’t work after changing the screen—even with an original Apple panel. But on iOS 18 and up, you can use Apple’s Repair Assistant to calibrate your new screen and bring back full functionality on genuine parts.

Step 1

- Disconnect all cables from your phone to keep things safe and tidy.

- Press and hold the power button along with either volume button, then slide to shut down your phone.

Step 2

- If your screen or back glass is cracked, grab some packing tape and lay it down in overlapping strips over the glass. It'll keep you safe and make taking things apart a whole lot easier. You’ve got this!

Step 3

- Grab your opening pick and bust out your best artist skills—measure 3 mm from the tip and mark it with a permanent marker. Precision is your friend!

Step 4

- Grab your trusty P2 pentalobe screwdriver and use it to take out the two 7mm screws on each side of the charging port. Easy peasy, right?

Step 5

- Grab a hair dryer or heat gun and warm up the bottom edge of the screen until it feels nice and toasty to the touch.

Step 6

- Stick the suction handle onto the bottom edge of your screen—like giving your device a little handlebar mustache.

- Give that handle a firm, steady pull to open up a gap between the screen and the frame. Slow and steady wins the race here!

- Slide the tip of your opening pick into the gap. If your device protests, show it who's boss (but gently).

Step 7

- Heads up! The screen is hooked up to the phone by two fragile cables: one hanging out just above the action button, and the other chilling near the middle of the left edge.

- Around the edges of the phone, you'll find several spring contacts. Be super careful not to push your pick too deep here—these little guys don’t like getting bent out of shape.

Step 8

- Gently slide your pick along the bottom edge, back and forth, to break the adhesive free.

- Keep your pick in place at the bottom right corner to stop the adhesive from sticking back together.

Step 9

- Gently warm up the right side of the screen until it feels comfortably warm to the touch.

Step 10

- Take your pick and slide it around the bottom right corner of the screen, moving toward the power button. You'll hit a little stop where a clip is holding the screen in place.

- Now, twist your pick so the flat edge is underneath the screen, ready to pop it off.

Step 11

- Give that pick a little twist to widen the gap between the screen and the frame until you hear that satisfying click of the right clip letting go.

- Slide a second opening pick right next to the first one for some extra help!

Step 12

- Slide the first pick down to the bottom right corner of the screen.

- Push the second pick up to the top right corner to gently break the adhesive loose.

- Keep these picks in place so the adhesive doesn’t sneak back together on you.

Step 13

- Gently warm up the top edge of the screen until it feels pleasantly warm to the touch.

Step 14

- Gently glide your pick around the top right corner and along the top edge to pop open those two sneaky clips and release the adhesive holding everything together.

Step 15

- Warm up the left edge of the screen until it feels nice and toasty to the touch.

Step 16

- Swing your pick around the top left corner—like you're tracing a secret path.

- Glide your pick down to the bottom left corner and let it work its magic separating that sticky stuff.

Step 17

- Grab a small box or a few books and place them to the left of your phone. This will hold up the screen while you work your magic on those cables.

- Now, gently swing up the right edge of the screen, like you're opening the cover of a book. No need to rush, it's like a casual flip.

- Prop up the screen so it stays nice and steady. This way, you’ll have easy access to the cables without any strain. Keep it smooth and simple.

Step 18

- Grab your trusty Y000 screwdriver and let's get to work on those six screws holding the logic board cover in place:

- Four screws that are 1.6 mm long

- Two screws that are 1.3 mm long

Step 19

- Gently twist the bottom of the logic board cover counterclockwise, then slide the top left corner out from beneath the ambient light sensor cable. You've got this!

- When putting everything back together, make sure the top left corner of the cover tucks neatly under the ambient light sensor cable. A smooth reassembly is the key!

Step 20

- Gently use the tip of an opening pick to lift and disconnect the battery press connector from the bottom right corner of the logic board. You've got this!

Step 21

- Gently slide the tip of your opening pick under the screen cable connection on the logic board and carefully lift it to disconnect. Nice and easy—no rush!

Step 22

- Carefully slide the tip of an opening pick under the ambient light sensor cable at the top left corner of the logic board.

- Lift the cable gently to unplug it.
