Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 27 Steps

Follow this handy guide to swap out the loudspeaker in your iPhone 15. If the sound from your device is coming through with a side of static or crackling—definitely not a software hiccup—it's likely time for a new loudspeaker. Make sure you've got some replacement back glass adhesive on hand to finish off this repair like a pro!

Step 1

- Disconnect any cables hanging out of your phone—it’s time for a little solo adventure.

- Press and hold the power button plus either volume button, then swipe to shut down your phone.

Step 2

- If your screen or back glass is seriously cracked, slap some overlapping strips of packing tape over it to keep those shards in check and make taking it apart a breeze.

Step 3

- Grab your opening pick and mark a line 3 mm from the tip with a permanent marker—think of it as prepping your pick for precision moves!

Step 4

- Grab your trusty P2 pentalobe driver and unscrew the two 7.7mm-long screws located on either side of the charging port. They’re just waiting to be freed up!

Step 5

- Grab a hair dryer or heat gun and gently warm up the bottom edge of the back glass. Keep going until it feels nice and toasty to the touch—just the right amount of heat to help you get the job done.

Step 7

- Heads up! There's a fragile little cable linking the back glass near the volume down button. Avoid sliding your pick in there to keep that cable safe and sound.

- Around the edge of the phone, you'll find several spring contacts. Be sure to keep your pick shallow at each step to prevent bending these tiny connectors.

Step 8

- Work your pick side to side along the bottom edge to loosen up that sticky adhesive.

- Keep your pick parked in the bottom right corner so the adhesive doesn't sneakily stick itself back together.

Step 9

- Warm up the right edge of the back glass until it feels nice and toasty!

Step 10

- Gently twist your pick around the bottom right corner, then glide it up to the volume down button until you hit a solid stop at a hefty clip holding the back glass in place.

- Keep that pick in there to stop the adhesive from sealing back up!

Step 11

- Warm up the left edge of the back glass until it feels nice and toasty to your touch.

Step 12

- Pop in a second opening pick at the bottom edge.

- Gently twist that second pick around the bottom left corner.

- Slide the pick upward to the top left corner to carefully loosen the adhesive.

- Keep this pick in place to make sure the adhesive doesn’t snap back together.

Step 13

- Warm up the top edge of the back glass until it's nice and toasty to the touch.

Step 14

- Gently wiggle your second opening pick around the top left corner and glide it over to the top right corner to break that stubborn adhesive seal.

- Keep this pick in place to ensure the adhesive doesn’t decide to stick back together.

Step 15

- Warm up the top right corner of the back glass until it’s nice and toasty—just enough so it feels warm to the touch.

Step 16

- Gently twist the second opening pick around the top right corner and slide it over to the volume up button, carefully loosening that sneaky adhesive.

Step 17

- Carefully swing the back glass open toward the right side of the phone.

- Lean the back glass against something raised to keep the cable relaxed and safe.

Step 18

- Grab your tri-point Y000 driver and unscrew the two tiny 1.3 mm screws holding down the lower connector cover. Steady hands win here!

Step 19

- Grab your tweezers and gently shimmy the cover up toward the top of the phone to pop it free from the logic board.

- Lift the cover off and set it aside—nice and easy.

- When putting things back together, hook the top edge of the cover into its slot on the logic board before locking it down with the screw.

- With one hand, hold the back glass upright and give it a gentle twist to uncover the battery press connector hiding just below the volume buttons.

- Grab your trusty opening pick and use the tip to carefully pry up and disconnect that battery press connector from the logic board.

Step 21

- Grab your tri-point Y000 driver and zip out that tiny 0.9 mm screw holding down the middle connector cover. It’s like a little puzzle piece—give it a twist and set it aside!

Step 22

- Grab that trusty spudger or just your finger and give the cover a gentle push towards the bottom of the phone to unclip its top edge. You've got this!

- Now, let's remove that cover like a pro.

- When it's time to put everything back together, make sure the cover's tab is snugly behind the clip on the logic board. Just press down with one finger and slide the cover forward to lock it in place. Easy peasy!

Step 24

- Let's kick things off by taking off that back glass. You've got this!

- Now, as you’re putting everything back together:

- Here’s a fun tip: it’s a great idea to give your repair a quick test run before you seal everything up. Just reconnect the battery and back glass temporarily, power your phone on, and check if it’s working like a charm. Once you're sure it's all good, power it down and continue with the reassembly.

- Follow this guide to reapply adhesive and safely install that back glass back on.

Step 25

- Grab your tri-point Y000 driver and carefully take out the 1.3 mm-long screw holding down the grounding clip and loudspeaker.

- Next, use your Phillips #000 driver to remove the four 1.6 mm-long screws that keep the loudspeaker in place.

Step 26

- Gently slide the flat end of your spudger under the right edge of the loudspeaker to lift it up just enough so you can grab it with your fingers.
