iPhone 15 Screen Replacement

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 25 Steps

Ready to tackle that broken or cracked screen on your iPhone 15? Let’s get to it! Just a heads-up: since disconnecting the battery isn’t an option during this repair, please handle everything with care—avoid metal prying tools and steer clear of exposed contacts on your device. Oh, and here’s a little tidbit: if you're rolling with iOS 17.6 or earlier, remember that after you swap out the screen, True Tone and auto brightness will take a little vacation, even if you’ve got an original Apple screen. But fear not! If you’re on iOS 18 or later, you can calibrate your new screen with Apple’s Repair Assistant to bring those features back to life with genuine parts. Let’s get to fixing!

Step 1

- Disconnect any cables plugged into your phone.

- Press and hold the power button along with either volume button, then slide to turn your phone off.

Step 2

- If your screen or back glass is seriously cracked, slap some overlapping strips of packing tape over it to keep the shards in check and make taking it apart a lot less messy.

Step 3

- Grab your opening pick and make a mark 3 mm from the tip—think of it as a fancy little guideline for your repair adventure! Permanent marker works best.

Step 4

- Grab your P2 pentalobe driver and let's tackle those two screws hanging out on either side of the charging port. They’re 7.7 mm long, so it’s a quick job!

Step 5

- Grab a hair dryer or heat gun and warm up the bottom edge of the screen until it feels nice and toasty to the touch.

Step 6

- Place a suction handle gently on the bottom edge of your screen.

- Give the handle a firm, steady pull to create a nice gap between the screen and the frame. Don’t be shy, but keep it smooth!

- Slide an opening pick into the gap, like you’re sliding into the weekend—carefully and with purpose.

Step 7

- Watch out—there are two super fragile cables connecting your screen to the phone. One hangs out just above the mute switch, and the other chills halfway between the volume down button and the bottom edge. Handle with care!

- Around the edge of your phone, you’ll spot a bunch of spring contacts. These little guys do not want to be poked too deeply! So, when you’re sliding your pick in, keep it shallow in these spots to avoid bending anything you shouldn’t.

Step 8

- Gently slide your pick back and forth along the bottom edge to loosen the adhesive. A little movement goes a long way.

- Once you've made some progress, leave the pick inserted in the bottom right corner. This will stop the adhesive from sealing back up on you.

Step 9

- Give the right edge of the screen a little heat until it feels nice and warm to the touch.

Step 10

- Gently slide your pick around the bottom right corner of the screen and move it toward the power button. You’ll hit a clip holding the screen in place—don't worry, it's just doing its job.

- Now, rotate your pick so the flat edge sits neatly under the screen, and you're one step closer to success!

Step 11

- Grab the pick with one hand, give it a little twist to gently pry apart the screen and frame, and pop loose the right clip.

- Slide a second opening pick just to the right of the first to keep things apart.

Step 12

- Carefully slide the first pick down to the bottom right corner of the screen.

- Next, glide the second pick up to the top right corner to gently loosen the adhesive.

- Keep these picks in place to stop the adhesive from sticking back together.

Step 13

- Warm up the top edge of the screen until it feels hot when you touch it.

Step 14

- Pop a third opening pick into the top right corner, just above the last one you placed.

- Gently slide your pick around the top right corner and along the top edge. Keep going until it hits the top left screen clip.

Step 15

- Turn your pick so the flat edge slides right beneath the screen.

- Give your pick a little twist to pop loose the top left screen clip.

- Gently slide your pick over to the top left corner.

Step 16

- Warm up the left edge of the screen until it's delightfully toasty!

Step 17

- Gently glide your pick around the top left corner of the screen and along the left edge to pop those clips free and break the adhesive holding it in place. You've got this!

Step 18

- Carefully flip the screen open from the left side of the phone.

Step 19

- Grab your trusty tri-point Y000 driver and unscrew that 0.9 mm-long screw holding down the front sensor connector cover. You got this!

Step 20

- Grab those tweezers and tilt the cover up to a cool 90 degrees.

- Unhook the cover from its spot on the logic board—like a pro.

- Take the cover off and set it aside.

- When you're putting it back, make sure to hook it in at a 90-degree angle before laying it down on the press connector.
