Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 18 Steps
Before you start, make sure your Nabi Big Tab HD24 is powered off – safety first! When removing the front and back covers, be gentle and try to avoid using metal tools if you can. You’ll see some connections between the two sides, so take your time and carefully disconnect them before moving on. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
Step 1
Lay the tablet down with the screen face-down on the table, making sure it’s staring back at you like it means business.
– Find the four bold red rubber stops chilling in each corner. They’re not just hanging out for fun—you’re gonna need to remove them!
Step 2
– Gently use your fingers to peel these off and uncover the hidden screws underneath—it’s like finding buried treasure, but for your device!
Step 3
– Grab your trusty Phillips #1 screwdriver and go ahead and unscrew the 9.5 mm screw from each of the four corners. You’ve got this!

Step 4
Make sure not to mix up the openings with the charging or USB ports. The openings will be marked with a small fan icon and the Nabi logo to guide you.
You’ll find 2 lovely screws at the bottom of the tablet, and 1 on each side when you’re looking at it from the front like you’re about to dive into some serious tablet action.
– Let’s get started by flipping your tablet over so the screen is facing up – easy peasy!
– Now, take a look at the sides of your tablet and locate the 4 small openings – they’re pretty hard to miss!
Step 5
– Slide a metal spudger into one of the slots and gently pop the device open by pressing down with steady pressure.
– Do the same thing for the other three slots, and you’ll have this device open in no time.
Step 6
Be gentle when you crack open that device! There are some sneaky cables inside connecting the front and back assemblies, so proceed with care.
– Turn your device over so the back is facing up and ready for action.
– Grab your trusty plastic opening tool and gently pop open the device along the hinges—no need to rush, just a smooth and easy pry.
Step 7
– Find the white port that connects the back panel to the circuit board on the back of the display—it’s your starting point.
– Gently pull the plastic connector straight out—slow and steady wins the race!
Step 8
Watch out for that aluminum foil tape—it’s a bit delicate and can tear pretty easily!
Avoid yanking those ribbon cables; there’s a sneaky plastic piece holding them down, glued to the metal display. Keep it gentle!
– Gently peel back the aluminum foil tape with your fingers, and voilà, the ribbon connector will be ready to shine!
Step 9
Now, carefully leave the connector hanging loose, but still attached to the metal display – don’t worry, it’s not going anywhere just yet!
– Time to get this connector disconnected! Press those two side switches firmly and gently pull the connector away from its connections. You got this!
Step 10
– Grab a plastic opening tool and gently slide it under the gray plastic frame that hugs the ribbon cable.
– Press down carefully to lift the gray plastic away from the metal display—nice and easy does it!
Step 11
– Find the two cables running along both sides of the device, located at the bottom of the screen. They’re sneaky, but you got this.
Step 12
Skip tugging on the red and black cable—it’s a bit delicate and could pop right out of the connector.
– Grab the white plastic piece firmly on both sides with your fingers and pull it straight up – it’s easier than you think!
Step 13
The battery you’re working with is a spunky McNair Li-ion Polymer Battery, Model #: mlp2462113-4s. Let’s keep things charged and lively!
– Find the battery – it’s that big, black, rectangular piece sitting on the side with all the circuit boards. You’ll want to give it some attention, so make sure you spot it easily.
Step 14
In this wire bundle, you’ll find two sleek black wires, one stylish yellow/white wire, and three vibrant red wires. Oh, and don’t forget about the other bundle, which features a chic twisted black and white wire, cozily taped up right next to the first one.
– Find the bunch of wires running from the battery over to the power regulator—the part hanging out right next to the battery.
Step 15
The black and white wire bundle isn’t connected to the battery, so gently moving it aside will make removing the battery a breeze.
– Let’s get started by carefully removing the black tape that’s keeping those two bundles of wire in place.
Step 16
– Let’s get started by tracking down the power adapter connection – specifically, where the red, black, and yellow wire bundle hooks up.
Step 17
– Let’s get started by disconnecting the wires from the power regulator. Simply pull the white connector straight out – easy peasy!
Step 18
– To put everything back together, just reverse the steps you followed to take it apart. You got this!
– If you need help or want to make sure everything is done correctly, you can always schedule a repair
