Nabi 2 Headphone Jack Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 14 Steps
Headphone jack giving you silent treatment? This guide will walk you through removing and swapping out the headphone jack if a good cleaning didn’t do the trick. Heads up: you’ll need to break out your soldering skills for this one. Be careful—soldering irons heat up fast, so steer clear of those metal bits! Let’s get your tablet sounding sharp again.
Step 1
– Let’s get started by taking off the rubber bumper from your tablet. This is the first step in giving your device some TLC.
Step 2
– Grab your trusty PH00 screwdriver and get ready to unscrew! Remove the four screws on the outer edges of the back of your tablet.
Step 3
Be gentle with those clips – they’re a bit fragile and can break if you push them too hard. Take it easy, and they’ll work with you.
– Slide a plastic opening tool into the seam of your device like a pro and start easing those two plastic pieces apart with care.
– Trace the tool around the device—patience is key! Little plastic clips should pop free. If they’re acting stubborn, give them a gentle outward nudge until they release.
Step 4
– Place the tablet on a flat surface and carefully peel off the yellow tape from the ZIF connector on both sides. Take your time; this part’s a breeze!
Step 5
– Time to get this repair started! Use a spudger to gently slide the brown tab forward on each side of the connector – think of it like loosening a stubborn sticker
– Keep sliding until the connector is completely loose, then carefully separate the screen from the bottom half of the tablet. Easy does it, you’re making great progress!
– If your screen isn’t working quite right after this, don’t worry – it might just need a full display assembly replacement. But for now, let’s focus on getting this repair done
Step 6
– Gently use your spudger to lift the battery out and set it aside for now.
Step 7
– Time to get that battery out of there! Carefully desolder the battery connection and completely remove the battery. Don’t forget to take note of the color order for when you’re ready to put everything back together again.
– Take a mental (or actual) photo of those colors so you can reference them later when it’s time to replace the battery.
Step 8
– Grab your soldering iron and carefully disconnect those speaker wires from the circuit board—easy does it, you’re doing great!

Step 10
– With all the screws out of the way, gently lift out the speakers and set them aside.
Step 11
– Grab your trusty PH#000 screwdriver and unscrew those seven 4 mm Phillips screws. They’re not too tight, so just give them a little twist and you’re good to go!
Step 12
– Peel off that tape that’s holding the motherboard to the plastic casing—go slow and steady so nothing gets left behind.
Step 13
– Let’s get that motherboard out! Carefully lift it from the indicated area to remove it.
