All you really need for this step are a Phillips screwdriver and a slim putty knife—simple tools that get the job done. Grab them, and you’re ready to move forward with your repair adventure!
Step 1
– Take a gander at those connectors!
Step 2
– Grab a putty knife and gently pry off those four rubber feet. Once they’re out of the way, you’ll find four Phillips screws waiting for their moment to shine. Let’s get to it!

– Next up, grab your trusty putty knife and gently pry off one of those two plastic endcaps. They pop right out, and then you’ll see the circuit board slide out like a champ!

– Grab your Phillips screwdriver and take out 5 more screws to free up that plastic mounting frame.
Step 5
– Take a look at both the front and back of the board. Let’s break it down, step by step.
– Starting with the front of the board, from left to right, the key chips are: LSI FW643E-02 (FireWire800), Broadcom BCM57762 (Gigabit Ethernet), Intel L150I56 (Thunderbolt controller), two NXP LPC1114F chips, Fresco FL1100 (USB 3.0), and C-Media CM119A (Audio).
– Now, flip the board over and check out the back. From left to right, you’ll see: Parade PS161HDM, two Parade PS8301 chips, two NXP ZSD310 chips, and Parade PS8321. These chips handle HDMI/DVI conversion and support DisplayPort. Pretty cool, right?
