Vixt VOOM Disposable Teardown
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 6 Steps
Step 1
– The user manual has a pretty cool x-ray style view of the device, so you’ll get a solid look at what’s going on inside.
– The mouthpiece fits snugly, and while it may take a bit of muscle to remove, just pinch and pull – give it a firm tug.
– Inside the mouthpiece, there’s a fluid-catching pad and a silicone seal to keep leaks at bay. Neither of them is glued or fastened in any noticeable way.
Step 2
– Nothing is glued or clipped into place just yet—simply pinch and pull to move forward.
– Inside, you’ll find a neat little Li-po battery. It’s kind of a shame they market this as a disposable product when it actually has a rechargeable battery. Pretty clever, right?
Step 3
– The mouthpiece pops right off, and the tank design is totally reusable. The real challenge comes with the battery—it just doesn’t hold a charge like it used to.
Step 4
– The tank was clipped on, but came loose pretty easily — no need to wrestle with it too hard. Keep a steady hand and gentle touch, and it should come free without a fuss.
– We ran into a bit of a snag when trying to remove the coil and its leads; they’re sealed up tight with silicone goop, so pulling on them could cause leaks. Best to leave those be and proceed carefully.
– The user manual’s x-ray image showed some extra cotton tucked between the tank, coil, and cradle. Unfortunately, we couldn’t reach it without some extra tools or maneuvers, so keep that in mind if you want to get all the cotton out.
Step 5
– The chip’s main gig is flipping the coil on and off when you take a puff, which also lights up the blue LED. Nothing wild going on here.
– If you’re thinking about making this rechargeable, it’s doable since there’s a good amount of space in the battery area for contacts and whatnot. The tricky part is fitting a charging circuit somewhere inside.
– Heads up though: the coil is only built for a certain number of cycles and can’t be swapped out, so modding might not be worth the hassle in the long run.
Step 6
– Snap a pic of all the parts I’ve managed to take apart; it’s like a little treasure map!
– So here’s the scoop: this product is pretty wasteful, marketed as something you just toss away. Not only does it pack a hefty dose of nicotine, but it also has a rechargeable battery that’s a bit of a hassle to recharge. If you want to go the reusable route, it’s just a few extra bucks. Plus, you can recharge it and swap the battery when needed!
