Asus MeMO Pad HD 7 Motherboard Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 8 Steps
Get ready to tackle the motherboard swap in your tablet! It’s a bit of a journey, involving a few steps and some tiny screws, but don’t worry—it’s a straightforward process. With a little patience and focus, you’ll have your device up and running in no time. Just remember, if you hit a snag, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
The volume buttons might pop out of the case—keep an eye on them so they don’t wander off!
– Gently pry off the back panel using a plastic opening tool—it’s a bit like opening a stubborn jar, but more high-tech.
– Slide the back panel away from the device with confidence. Don’t worry, it’s built to come off!
Step 2
Lift those white locking tabs up by gently prying their top edge – the side farthest from the battery. They’re hinged, so just swing ’em across the connector’s width.
– First up, let’s unlock those ZIF connectors on the data cables. Give them a little wiggle if they’re feeling stubborn!
– Next, gently pull down on the tabs to free the cable from its cozy slot. Think of it as giving it a little nudge to say, ‘It’s time to go!’
– When you’re putting everything back together, double-check that the touchscreen cables are snugly in place. A good fit is key, or you might end up with some parts that just won’t respond!
Step 3
– Spot the battery connector—it’s where the wires from the top-right of the battery lead you. To unplug it, gently lift up on the wires like you’re coaxing a shy puppy to come out and play. If those wires are giving you the slip, grab a spudger or a blue plastic opening tool to give them a nudge with finesse.

Step 4
The battery has a soft casing, so handle it with care! Avoid tearing the casing to prevent any chemicals from leaking out. Stay safe while repairing!
– Time to set that battery free! Use a spudger to carefully pry it up – it’s glued down, so you’ll need to apply a bit of gentle pressure. Don’t worry, it’s easier than it sounds!

Step 5
– Find the speaker wires hanging out on the left side of the battery. Gently lift the connector up or use a tool to pry it if you’re having a tough time getting a grip. You’re doing great!
Step 6
– Take your trusty spudger (or any similar prying tool) and carefully lift the GPS Antenna cable straight up. You’re looking for the grey wire that snakes its way up the right side of the device, starting from the speaker housing and making its grand journey to the motherboard. Be gentle—no need for heroic strength here!

Step 7
– Pop off that data ribbon from the motherboard—it’s chillin’ on the right side of the board. You’ll spot its flat top connector. Use a spudger to gently pry it straight up like a pro.
– Next up, find the connector for the volume and power buttons—it’s holding down the fort on the left side of the motherboard. Flip up the latch on the ZIF connector like you’re opening a little treasure chest, then slide the data cable straight out. Easy does it!

Step 8
– Remove two #000 Philips 1.5 mm screws chillin’ on the right side of the motherboard.
– Take out three #000 Philips 2 mm screws hanging out on the left and center of the board.
– Now, with a little finesse, you can lift the board straight up—nice and easy!
