Asus MeMO Pad 7 ME170C Ribbon Cable Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 6 Steps
Ribbon cables are like the ultimate wire squad—they keep all those loose, wandering wires in check, bundling them into one neat, tidy package. No mess, no stress!
Step 1
First things first, let’s make sure your device is off before we dive into the guts of it!
Treat that screen like it’s a precious gem. A little care goes a long way—too much pressure could spell trouble!
– Time to get started. Use your trusty Jimmy tool to carefully pry into the seam of the device – it’s the first step to unlocking your device’s inner workings.
– Now, take that Jimmy tool and gently pry open the device through the seam. You’re making great progress, and it’s all part of the repair process.

Step 2
Gently slide it in a forward motion, and avoid pushing down to keep all those delicate inner bits intact!
– First things first, find the black bundle cable connector that’s hanging out next to the battery. It’s like the party starter for getting this repair rolling!
– Now grab your trusty blue plastic opening tool and gently coax that connector loose. Go for a back-and-forth shimmy towards the battery and watch it loosen up like it’s ready to dance!
Step 3
Make sure the battery is comfortably nestled in its port, like a cozy blanket on a chilly night.
– Grab that trusty plastic opening tool and glide it along the edges to loosen up the battery.
– Gently pop the battery out of its slot—easy does it!
Step 4
– Grab your wide-nosed tweezers and carefully peel off the yellow tape that’s holding the ribbon cable in place at the bottom. Gently lift one corner and start removing it with a steady hand.

Step 5
Gently pull the ribbon cable out, being careful not to yank it too hard and cause any damage. Take your time and ease it out.
– Grab your wide-nosed tweezers and give that blue tab at the top of the ribbon cable a little pinch towards the motherboard. You’re doing great!
– Now, with a gentle lateral motion, pull that blue tab. Easy does it!
– At the bottom of the device, use those trusty tweezers again to pinch the opposite blue tab of the ribbon cable. Keep it steady!
– And once more, with a light lateral pull, let that blue tab come free. You’re almost there!

Step 6
The middle part of the ribbon cable will be securely attached to the device with some glue, so make sure it’s stuck down nicely.
– Putting your device back together is as easy as retracing your steps. Just work backward through the instructions and you’ll be up and running in no time! If things get tricky, you can always schedule a repair.
