Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Vibrator Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 22 Steps
If your Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has lost its buzz and stays silent for alerts, it’s probably time to swap out the vibrator motor.
Step 1
Be careful not to insert the tool into the microphone hole, as this could cause damage. Instead, look for the outline of the SIM tray to ensure you're in the right spot.
- Grab a paper clip or SIM eject tool and find the tiny hole in the SIM card slot on top of your phone.
- Gently press the paper clip into that hole until the SIM tray pops out a bit.
- Carefully pull out the SIM card tray from your device to get to the SIM card.
Step 2
Using a carousel microwave? Make sure the plate spins easily—if your iOpener gets stuck, things could get toasty in all the wrong ways!
Before diving in, give your microwave a quick clean-up! That pesky gunk at the bottom can get cozy with the iOpener, and we want to avoid that sticky situation.
- Pop your iOpener right in the middle of the microwave like it’s about to star in its own cooking show.

Step 3
Keep an eye on your iOpener's temperature during the repair—too much heat could make it pop like a balloon! Aim to keep it under 100˚C (212˚F).
If your iOpener looks a bit puffy, steer clear—it's not a good sign.
If the center of your iOpener is still too hot to handle, hang tight and let it cool down a bit before giving it another warming session. A well-prepped iOpener should stay cozy for about 10 minutes.
Depending on how powerful your microwave is, you might need to adjust the cooking time a bit. You'll know your iOpener is ready when it's just a tad too hot to handle comfortably.
- Give that iOpener a warm-up in the microwave for thirty seconds. It's like a cozy spa day for your repair buddy!
- As you tackle your repair, keep an eye on the iOpener. If it starts to chill out, pop it back in the microwave for another thirty seconds. Let's keep the heat going!

Step 4
Heads up! The iOpener gets really toasty, so handle it with care. If it's too hot to handle, grab an oven mitt to keep your cool.
- Carefully lift the iOpener out of the microwave, holding onto one of the flat ends—avoid the hot center to stay safe and cool. If you need a hand or want to get this sorted quickly, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 5
Careful now! The iOpener gets super toasty, so be sure to grip it by those end tabs only. Stay safe while you work!
No microwave? No problem! Just take a little detour and warm up your iOpener in some boiling water instead.
- Grab a pot or pan and fill it up with enough water to completely dunk that iOpener!
- Turn up the heat and bring the water to a nice rolling boil. Then, switch off the heat.
- Gently drop the iOpener into the hot water and let it soak for about 2-3 minutes, making sure it's fully submerged.
- Use some tongs to safely fish out your warm iOpener from the water.
- Give it a good dry with a towel, ensuring it's nice and ready to go.
- And voilà! Your iOpener is all set for action! If it needs a little reheating, just repeat the boiling process for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 6
You can totally use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate to get the job done, just keep an eye on the temperature! Remember, your phone's OLED display and internal battery are a bit sensitive to heat, so let's avoid any overheating drama.
Opening your phone? Heads up—this will break the waterproof seals. Make sure you've got some replacement adhesive on hand before you dive in, or take extra care to keep it dry when you're putting things back together without it.
If your screen is shattered, cover the whole thing with packing tape. It'll keep the glass from falling apart while you're getting it off.
You might have to give the iOpener a few reheats to get things toasty enough. Just follow the instructions to make sure you don't overdo it.
- Warm up that iOpener and place it on the back panel for about two minutes to help loosen up the sticky stuff around the glass edges.
- Once that's done, move the iOpener to the next section and give it another two minutes of heat to make sure everything is nice and cozy.

Step 7
If you’d like, add a couple drops of isopropyl alcohol into the gap after sliding in the pick—this helps loosen up that stubborn adhesive for the next moves.
- Once the rear glass is feeling warm and toasty, grab a suction cup and place it near the bottom edge of that glass.
- Gently pull up on the suction cup to create a little gap under the rear glass, then slide an opening pick into that gap.
Step 8
Once you've separated some glue, leave your pick in place and grab another to keep cruising. This keeps the glue from sticking itself back together while you move on.
If the rear glass decides to cool off and the glue gets stubborn, just warm it up again to keep things easy.
- Gently glide that pick along the bottom edge of your phone to cut through the sticky stuff holding that rear glass in place!
Step 9
- Now it's time to get the other three sides of the phone loose - just repeat the heating and cutting process you've already mastered!
- As you work your way around, leave an opening pick under each edge to keep the adhesive from sneaking back in and causing trouble.
Step 10
- Grab your trusty opening pick and carefully slice through any stubborn adhesive that’s still hanging on.
- Time to say goodbye to the rear glass—gently remove it and reveal what's inside!
Step 11
- Installing new rear glass? Let's get to it!
- If you're putting the old rear glass back on or working with glass that doesn't have adhesive already, here's what you need to do.
- Use tweezers to carefully remove any leftover adhesive from the phone’s frame.
- Clean the surface where the adhesive will go with high-concentration isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) and a lint-free cloth. Wipe in one smooth direction—don’t go back and forth. This preps the surface perfectly for the new adhesive.
- Now, peel off the backing from the new adhesive on the rear glass, carefully align one edge of the glass with the phone's frame, and press down firmly to stick it in place.

Step 12
- Take out the thirteen 3.3 mm Phillips #00 screws holding the midframe in place. Keep them safe—these little guys are essential for reassembly. If you need a hand, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 13
- Now it's time to get a little aggressive - gently, of course! Press down on the back of the battery and lift up on the edges of the midframe. This will help you separate it from the rest of the phone. Take your time and be patient, it's a delicate process.
Step 14
- Take the flat end of your spudger and gently pop the battery ribbon cable off the motherboard. Easy does it!

Step 18
- Gently unplug the earpiece ribbon cable from the motherboard—easy does it, no tug-of-war required!
Step 19
Be gentle with that motherboard - it's super sensitive to moisture and static electricity! To keep it safe, consider wearing an anti-static strap when handling it.
Don't pull the motherboard all the way out just yet! You'll need to disconnect the ribbon cable on the bottom first.
- Hold onto the motherboard by its edges near the top of the device, just like you're giving it a high-five!
- Gently lift the motherboard upwards and away from the display. Just a friendly reminder—don't pull too hard on that daughterboard ribbon cable; we want to keep it happy!
Step 20
- Flip the motherboard over and gently unplug the daughterboard ribbon cable from underneath.
Step 21
- Grab the vibrator motor with a pair of blunt nose tweezers and gently wiggle it back and forth to loosen it from the adhesive.
