Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 19 Steps
In this guide, we’re diving into the world of speaker removal! If your speakers are acting up and you suspect a physical problem, you’ve come to the right place. Just make sure you’re confident that there’s a real issue before tackling this one. Let’s get those speakers sorted out!
Step 1
– Alrighty! Before you even think of popping out that battery, make sure the laptop is unplugged from all power sources and fully shut down. Safety first, always!
– Flip that laptop over like a pancake – gotta access its backside!
Step 2
– Push the release latch while gently pulling the battery back. You’re almost there!
Step 3
– Gently slide the battery out of its bay like you’re nudging a napper awake—take it slow and steady.
Step 4
– Once you’ve taken out the battery, let’s tackle those two little screws (3mm Phillips #1) hiding underneath. These tiny heroes are what keep the Center Control Cover snug and secure!
Step 5
– Time to get started! Flip your laptop over and open the display as far as it will go. Let’s get a good look at what we’re working with.
Step 6
The Center Control Cover is super delicate, so take your time and be gentle when working with prying tools!
– Wiggle that Center Control Cover free from the laptop—start at the small notch on the right side for the easiest lift-off.
– Gently pop off the Center Control Cover and set it aside like the rockstar technician you are.
Step 7
The top 3 screws are “captive” (held in by a retaining ring) and will not come out.
– Let’s get started by removing the four screws (3mm Phillips #1) that keep the base cover in place. Simply unscrew them and set the screws aside for now.
Step 8
– Gently hoist that base cover up and off the laptop like you’re lifting the lid off a treasure chest.
Step 9
– Unscrew the two 5mm Phillips #1 screws perched at the top of the keyboard and get ready to dive into the fun of repair!
Step 10
Be gentle when removing the keyboard! Pulling too hard can damage the keyboard or its connector, and that’s not what we’re going for here. Let’s get that keyboard out safely and keep on repairing!
– Gently slide the keyboard out and away from the laptop, then lift it up to reveal the keyboard connector. You’re doing great!
Step 11
– Flip up that little latch that holds the keyboard cable snugly on the motherboard. Then, gently slide the cable out like you’re pulling off a band-aid, nice and easy!
Step 12
– Gently lift the keyboard and move it away from the laptop.
Step 13
– Unscrew the 11 screws (5mm Phillips #1) holding the laptop’s back in place—don’t worry, they’re not hiding! One is right in the middle, chilling near the RAM.
Step 14
– Pop off those black-and-white wires from the WLAN—they’re the ones heading straight to the display. Just grab ’em and pull straight up, easy as pie!
– Now take a moment to free those wires from the routing guides. Give them a little unwind and let them loose—it’s like untangling headphone cords, but way cooler.
Step 15
– Flip the laptop back to its usual resting position and gently pull the black and white wires that were connected to the WLAN through the hole. Easy does it!
– Unscrew the 4 smaller screws (5mm Phillips #1) and the one screw on the top left (3mm Phillips #1) from the palm rest. You’re almost there!
Step 16
Gently tug on the plastic tabs for each connector—show those tabs some love—to avoid any accidental connector mishaps.
– Detach the Bluetooth card cable, Wed cable, Camera1 cable, power cable, and touchpad cable from their respective connectors on the Motherboard, just like it’s labeled. For the Bluetooth and Camera1 cables, simply pull the plugs towards the screen. For the touchpad and power cables, pop up the black tab, then gently slide them out. For the Wed cable, give the blue tab a little upward tug.
– Free up the wires from the routing guides so they’re no longer snug in place.
Step 17
– To detach the palm rest from your trusty computer, grab a plastic opening tool and gently pry it away. It’s a good idea to start at one spot and work your way around like a pro.
Step 18
– Take out the four speaker screws—two for each speaker! (3mm Phillips #1, if you’re wondering).
– Unplug the speaker cable from the motherboard—just tug the white plastic tab gently towards the screen. Easy does it!
– Peel off that black tape holding the speaker cable—channel your inner craft master!
Step 19
The right speaker is held in place with some sticky adhesive on the back—don’t be shy, give it a little gentle prying to set it free!
– Let’s get started! Carefully remove the speaker cable from its routing guides and gently take out the speakers. This is a great opportunity to get a closer look and make sure everything is in good condition.
