Sony PlayStation 3D Display Side Speakers Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 7 Steps
Launched on November 13, 2011, this is the one and only model out there! Disassembling it is a breeze with just a few screwdrivers and a little bit of prying. Model # CECH-ZED1U
Step 1
– Pop off the base by pressing the button and giving the unit a smooth slide out.
Step 2
This keeps the cover from sneaking under the back plate once you pop it off.
– Pop off the USB port cover from the back plate using a metal spudger—it’s easier than it sounds and totally safe.

Step 3
Heads up! These screws have their own unique threads, so make sure to keep them separate to avoid any mix-ups.
– Grab your trusty Phillips #02 screwdriver and unscrew the six screws (6 mm length x 6 mm head) holding down the back plate. Easy-peasy!
– Next up, still with the Phillips #02 screwdriver, tackle the ten screws (6 mm length x 8 mm head) securing the back plate. You’re crushing it!
Step 4
Take it easy so those delicate plastic clips holding the plate stay in one piece.
– Grab a plastic opening tool and gently wiggle it along the edges of the back plate—it’s like coaxing a stubborn lid off a jar!
– Once you’ve got it loosened, the back plate will pop off with ease—voilà!
Step 5
– Let’s get started! Use your trusty Phillips #01 screwdriver to remove the four 5 mm length x 7 mm head screws from the assembly – two screws on each side, one for each speaker. Take your time and make sure they’re all out before moving on to the next step.
Step 6
When putting everything back together, just remember: the arrow on the plastic plate should be pointing upwards. Simple as that!
– Pop off the plastic plate that’s covering the speaker—don’t be shy, it’s tougher than it looks!
– Gently lift the speaker out of its cozy little tray, like you’re plucking a delicate flower.
Step 7
– Gently pop out the speaker by pressing down on the white tab that’s holding the speaker wire connector. Easy peasy!
