Step 2

– Slide the switch by the left hinge to the left to set that battery free in the ‘unlocked’ position.

Step 3

– Give the latch a little slide—it’s the one on the hinge opposite the lock—while nudging the battery upward. Easy peasy!

Step 4

– Carefully unscrew the two Phillips #0 screws on the small panel covering the wireless card—take your time and keep it chill, it’s all smooth sailing from here!

Step 5

– Carefully lift the panel and slide it free from the case—like peeling off a sticker, but cooler!

Step 6

– Gently unplug the two antenna cables from the left side of the wireless card. You’ve got this!

Step 7

– Take out that one 3.9 mm Phillips #1 screw chillin’ at the bottom left corner of the wireless card.

Step 8

– Carefully lift the left side of the wireless card and slide it out of its cozy little socket.

Step 9

– Flip your netbook over and open the display so that the keyboard is facing you. You’re almost there – let’s get this thing open and ready to roll!

Step 10

– Up at the top of the keyboard, you’ll find three little tabs hanging out.

– Grab your trusty spudger, aim it towards the display, and gently pry upward to pop each tab loose from the keyboard—like unlocking a tiny treasure chest!

– As you move to the next tab, keep an eye on the last one to make sure it stays in place and doesn’t snap back on you.

Step 11

– Gently lift the top of the keyboard. If it’s not budging easily, there might be some tabs on the sides. No worries—use the tool to gently move them aside, or try wiggling the keyboard a bit from side to side to loosen it up.

Step 12

– Pop the black plastic hinge open and gently pull out the clear blue cable to disconnect the ribbon. You’re doing great!

Step 13

– Flip the ZG5 over, making sure the battery compartment is facing away from you, and close the display like you’re tucking it in for a quick nap.

Step 14

– Time to get your screwdriver ready! Start by taking out three 5.8 mm Phillips #0 screws from the bottom of the case.

– Next up, pop out three 3.9 mm Phillips #1 screws from the battery compartment – you got this!

– Finally, remove two 5.8 mm Phillips #0 screws tucked away under the feet near the hinges. Almost there!

Step 15

– Flip your netbook back over, and swing that display open – keyboard side up, please!

Step 16

– Lift up the little flap on the trackpad ribbon cable ZIF connector—think of it like flipping open a tiny treasure chest.

– Grab the blue tab and gently slide the trackpad ribbon cable out of its cozy socket on the motherboard. You’ve got this!

Step 17

– Alright, grab your Phillips #0 screwdriver and unscrew those five black 4.7 mm screws holding the metal casing. They’re ready to come out, no drama!

– Next up, switch to your Phillips #00 screwdriver for the single silver 4.3 mm screw on the right side of the metal casing. It’s just one screw, easy-peasy!

Step 18

– Find the red rings around the hinge—they’re like your guiding stars. Slide a spudger or a plastic opening tool into the seam between the two halves of the case.

– Glide that spudger toward the front of the device to pop free those tiny clips that are holding the top case down.

– Now, with a bit of finesse, lift off the top case gently—no hulk moves needed here!
