The touch pad is your best buddy for guiding that cursor around, and it’s one of the most frequently used elements of your laptop. Given its popularity, it’s bound to face some wear and tear over time and might need a little TLC or even a replacement.
Step 1
Before diving in, make sure your laptop is powered down and unplugged—safety first, hero!
– Flip your laptop upside-down (like a cool ninja move!) and grab a Phillips #0 driver to remove the following screws:
– Two 9.5 mm screws hanging out in the middle of the back edge, and one 9.5 mm screw chilling on the right edge.
– Two 4.3 mm screws snug in the back corners.
– One 17.5 mm screw holding tight at the left edge near the optical drive.
– Three 4.3 mm screws lined up along the front edge.
Step 2
– Grab your plastic opening tool and get ready to work some magic! Gently wedge it between the keyboard plate cover and the bottom cover. Now, slide it along the edges like a pro to pop that cover open. Stay cool—you’ve got this!
Step 3
– Spot the three ribbons tying the keyboard plate cover to the bottom cover—think of them as the connectors holding it all together.
Step 4
– Flip your laptop upside down to reveal those sneaky ribbons waiting for attention.
– Gently lift the tiny white plastic flap and carefully pull on each ribbon to set them free.
Step 5
– With the ribbons successfully unhooked from the bottom cover, gently lift off the keyboard plate cover. Once you’ve got it free, tuck it away in a dry, safe spot to keep it in tip-top shape.
