How to Replace Nintendo 64 in Nintendo Home Console

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 4 Steps

Step 1

– Pop open that Nintendo 64 to get to the motherboard magic! Need a hand with cracking it open? Check out the steps here.

Step 2

– Alright, here’s the game plan: head over to the rear right section of the motherboard and locate the audio/video connections. You’ll find six shiny, gold, bent strips of metal doing their thing there. To get full access to this A/V zone, you’ll need to remove the plastic plate above it. Just grab a screwdriver, loosen up the screws on the left and right sides, and lift that plate off like a pro. You might need to gently lift the motherboard a smidge to slide the plate out—no biggie!

Step 3

– Give a little warmth to those tiny contact points nestled between each strip and the motherboard with your trusty soldering iron! For the best results, make sure to heat all 6 contact spots so they get nice and soft, then let them cool down to form a solid connection. You’re doing great!

Step 4

– You made it! To put everything back together, just follow these steps in reverse. Nice job!

– If you need help or have any other devices to fix, you can always schedule a repair

Success!
Now that you’ve successfully put your device back together, just retrace your steps in reverse. If you hit a snag, don’t sweat it! You can always schedule a repair.
