How to Replace Framework Laptop 16 Touchpad Spacers

Ready to swap out one or both touchpad spacers on your Framework 16-inch laptop? Let’s do this! The laptop in this guide is set up with a US keyboard, a numpad module, and two touchpad spacers—but don’t sweat it if your setup looks different. The steps here will still steer you right, no matter your configuration.
Step 1
Got a repair that calls for a spudger, T5 Torx, or Phillips screwdriver? No problem! Your Framework screwdriver has got you covered—just grab the one that clicks with you.
– Disconnect all the cables and give your laptop a proper power nap—shut it down completely.
Step 2
If the latch is showing red, that means it’s time to lock it up tight!
– Use your fingernail to pop out the two Input Module latches and set them free.
Step 3
Having a tough time? Make sure the latch on the Input Module is fully unlocked—no shame, it happens to the best of us!
– Slide that touchpad spacer towards the bottom edge of your laptop with your fingers, and watch it pop off like magic!
– Now, lift that touchpad spacer off the laptop and voilà, you’ve removed it!
Step 4
– Time to put your device back together! Just retrace your steps and follow these instructions in reverse.
