Dell Inspiron 17 7773 2-in-1 Hard Drive (Windows Drive) Replacement
Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 9 Steps
In this guide, we’re going to walk you through the simple steps of removing a Windows Hard Drive (SSD). It’s easier than it sounds, we promise! Just follow along, and if you need a hand, you can always schedule a repair. Let’s get that drive out safely!
Step 1
– Grab your Phillips screwdriver and remove the eight 5mm screws from the bottom of the laptop case.
The screws on the back of the case are held in place from the inside, so you won’t be able to fully remove them just by unscrewing. Keep that in mind as you work your way through the repair—it’s all part of the process. If you run into any snags, you can always schedule a repair for some expert help.
Step 2
There’s no need to wiggle the back of the case where those screws are snugly held at the bottom. Keep it simple and let’s make this repair smooth!
– Grab your pry tool and start at a front corner to gently work the bottom case loose, sliding around the three edges like you’re opening a treasure chest.
Step 3
The case is held in place by magnets, so give it a gentle nudge from the bottom to lift it off. No need to force it – a little patience goes a long way!
– Gently nudge the case bottom from a corner and then lift it off completely. You’ve got this!
Step 4
– Grab your trusty Phillips #00 screwdriver and get ready to unscrew those five 3mm screws that are keeping the battery snug as a bug. You got this!
Step 5
When unplugging the battery, pull the tab straight out from the board—no funky angles! Tilting it could mess up the connector.
– Grab that handy pull tab and gently disconnect the battery from the system board. Once it’s free, go ahead and remove the laptop from the board like a pro!
Step 6
– Gently unplug the speaker from the system board—just give that plug a little tug!
– Carefully maneuver the speaker wires from beneath the tabs with a pry tool or screwdriver. This will help you slide the speaker away from the Windows drive.
Step 7
– Gently slide the right speaker away from the laptop body to make some room for that pesky Windows drive. A little space goes a long way.
Step 8
– Grab your Phillips #00 screwdriver and gently unscrew that 5mm screw holding the drive. Keep it safe—you’ll need it later!
Step 9
– Gently lift the Windows hard drive just enough to loosen it, then carefully pull it out from the system board. If you run into any trouble, remember you can always schedule a repair for extra help.
