Pac-Man Connect and Play Teardown

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 11 Steps

Step 1

– Let’s get things rolling by turning the device over so the back is facing up.

Step 2

– Unscrew the 5 Phillips head screws holding the case together—think of it as unlocking the door to the fun part.

– There’s one more screw keeping the batteries cozy—remove that little guy too.

Step 3

– Inside, you’ll find a bunch of handy Phillips Head screws. Nothing too crazy, just what we need!

– Next up, let’s open the Battery Compartment. It’s where the magic (or the power) happens.

– Now, we’re looking at the Power Switch and LED board. Pretty straightforward, but take your time here.

– Moving on to the Mainboard/Joystick board. You might feel like a tech wizard at this point.

– Don’t forget the A and B button board. It’s small but essential.

– And finally, we’ve reached the good part. Everything’s looking repairable. You’ve got this!

Step 4

– Let’s kick things off with the buttons!

Step 5

– They were super easy to reach and pop right out.

Step 6

– Alright, time to tackle the mainboard.

– Just remove these 2 screws to get access underneath.

– Wait a second—what do we have here?

Step 7

– Pop off another 4 screws, and boom! That’s holding a spring in place for the joystick.

– Getting that joystick out might not be a walk in the park, though. It seems like there isn’t an easy shortcut to take here.

Step 8

– At last, we’ve spotted a power regulator!

Step 9

– Actually, it’s just the power switch and the little LED light. Simple as that!

Step 10

– Back Main PCB IC Identification:

– Alright, it’s time to give that Main PCB IC some love. Take a close look at your device’s main PCB (printed circuit board) and locate the IC (integrated circuit) chips on it. These little guys are the brain of your device and are usually pretty easy to spot with their distinct shapes. If you’re feeling unsure or it’s being stubborn, no worries – we got your back! You can always schedule a repair.

Step 11

– On the bright side, you’ll only need your trusty J1 Phillips Head screwdriver for this whole device. Super consistent!

– Getting under each board is a breeze—no awkward angles here.

– The catch: all the electrical components are soldered in, so swapping out internals isn’t an option. If you’re feeling stuck, you can always schedule a repair.

Success!
