How to Replace Nintendo 64 Metal Plate – Step-by-Step Guide

Let’s get this repair started! Remove the metal plate that covers the motherboard – it’s time to get up close and personal with the core of your device. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered every step of the way.
Step 1
– Let’s start by carefully removing the expansion pack cover – just push the tab in and then pull it out.
Step 3
– Time to unscrew! Grab your gamebit head or screwdriver and remove the six screws on the bottom side, as shown in the example. You’re doing great—almost there!
Step 4
– Pop off the N64’s front feet.
Step 5
– Flip it over so the top side is facing up and gently remove the top cover.
Step 6
– Let’s get started. Remove the fourteen screws shown in the example using a Phillips screwdriver – the larger one works best.
Step 7
– Slide back that metal plate as shown in the example, then give it a lift. You’re doing great!
Step 8
– Grab your trusty small Phillips screwdriver and unscrew the two little guys shown in the example. Easy-peasy!
Step 9
– Unscrew the screw located to the right of the LED light using your trusty larger Phillips screwdriver. You’ve got this!
Step 10
– Pop off that tiny metal bracket chilling at the back of the expansion pack slot.
Step 11
– Time to get started! Use your trusty metal spudger to carefully remove the small metal bracket from the front of the expansion pack slot. You got this!

– Use your trusty spudger to gently pop off the small metal bracket hiding behind the expansion slot. You’ve got this!
Step 13
– Let’s get started by removing the seven screws shown in the example. Grab your trusty larger Phillips screwdriver and get to work!
