Sega Genesis II Teardown

Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 6 Steps

Alright. This guide is a teardown to show the safest and easiest way to take apart your genesis.

Step 1

– Kick things off by popping open the little panel hanging out on the bottom right side of your console.

Step 2

– Next up, grab your trusty screwdriver and remove the four black 11mm screws from the bottom of your console. Easy peasy, just make sure to keep them safe for later!

Step 3

– Gently lift the top of the console – it should pop right off without a fuss!

– If it feels stuck, double-check that you’ve removed all four screws.

– Don’t worry, you’ve got this!

Step 4

– Take out the six shiny gold 8mm screws and the three sleek black 8mm screws that are securing the EM shield.

– Once those screws are out, the shield practically begs to be lifted off—go ahead and remove it with ease.

Step 5

– Unscrew the two 17mm black screws hanging out on each side of the PIN—left and right. This will free up the circuit board from the bottom EM shield.

– Once those screws are out of the way, the circuit board comes out of the console with zero fuss.

Step 6

– And that’s a wrap!

– Your Sega Genesis is now in pieces, just like you planned. Hope this guide kept things clear and maybe even put a smile on your face. Good luck, and enjoy your gaming adventures!
