Get ready to bring your Nintendo Wii U back to life with a shiny new DVD Drive! Follow this guide to make the installation process smooth and easy. If you hit a snag, remember, you can always schedule a repair for some extra help!
Step 1
– Alright, let’s flip that console over so the bottom is facing up, and get ready to tackle those sneaky screws hiding under the white square stickers! Here’s what you’ll need to remove:
– Three 5.1mm Phillips #000 screws – they’re waiting for you!
– Two 6.1mm Tri-wing Y0 screws – just a couple of them, no biggie!
– One 13.2mm Tri-wing Y1 screw – the lone wolf of the bunch!
Step 2
– Flip that console around a full 180 degrees so the exhaust vents are waving hello to you!
– Time to unscrew! Take out those two 7.1mm Phillips #00 screws and let’s keep moving!
Step 3
– On the side opposite the exhaust vents, gently slide the cover faceplate towards the back of the console and lift it up to set it free. You’ve got this!
Step 4
– Underneath the console where the faceplate used to chill, unscrew the three 13.2mm Tri-wing Y1 screws. You’ve got this—steady hands for the win!
Step 5
– Flip the console over and gently pop up the top cover like you’re opening a treasure chest.
Step 6
– Spin that gadget around so the front plate is looking right at you.
– On each side of the console, unscrew the 3.5mm Phillips #0 screw that’s keeping the DVD drive and faceplate a little too close for comfort. Easy peasy!
Step 7
– Turn your device so that the front plate is facing right and the ribbon cable is in sight. Let’s get a good look!
– The ribbon cable is held in place by a latch that’s keeping the blue tab snug. Give that latch a little flip upwards to set it free.
– Now, gently pull up on that cheerful blue tab to detach the ribbon cable. You got this!
Step 8
– Gently pop off the front faceplate—it’s like giving your device a quick facelift!
Step 9
– On both sides of the DVD drive, go ahead and unscrew those two 4.6mm Phillips #0 screws. You’ve got this!
Step 10
Hey there! There’s a ribbon cable chillin’ on the bottom right side of the disc drive. Handle it with care—give it a gentle lift so it doesn’t tear or get cranky!
– Spin the device around so you can see that disc drive slot.
– Hoist the disc drive out of its mount and flip it over to the right like you’re reading a book.
– Grab a spudger and pop off the ribbon cable.
