DIY PlayStation 4 Pro Optical Drive Replacement Guide

Ready to tackle the optical drive in your PlayStation 4 Pro? It’s a bit of a journey since this is one of the last pieces that comes out, meaning almost everything else has to go first. This guide walks you through a good chunk of disassembly, so roll up your sleeves and prepare to void that warranty. Let’s get started!

Step 1

– Turn the console over.

– Use your fingers to gently pop off the plastic cover over the hard drive.

– Yank out those five tiny, blue low-profile cables connected to the metal plate.

– Gently unplug the big ribbon cable from its socket.

– Flip that console over to get to the top side—time to tackle the next step!

– Grab your trusty Phillips #1 screwdriver and pop out the two 6 mm silver screws from the metal plate.

– Now, take hold of the optical drive and give it a gentle lift to set it free.

– Don’t forget about that one 30 mm screw—it’s a little guy, but it matters!
