Safety first! Before you dive in, let’s make sure your battery is chillin’ at 25% or lower. That’s just good vibes, ya know?
Heads up! The Pixel 3a XL’s display is kind of sensitive. Be cool, be gentle. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Hey there, battery-challenged friend! This repair guide will walk you through replacing the battery in your Pixel 3a XL. We’ve got your back with step-by-step instructions. If your battery’s feeling a little puffy, take it easy and follow our safety tips. We want you to stay safe and sound! To make things extra safe, we recommend getting that battery down to 25% charge before diving in. This helps us avoid any unwanted fireworks during the repair. And remember, the Pixel 3a XL’s screen is delicate. If you want to keep using that gorgeous display, pay close attention to our screen-opening tips. Happy fixing! And if you need a helping hand, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
– Alright, cool cats and kittens, check out the back of your screen. We’re gonna work some magic right here!
– Two seams are gonna be your best buddies on this journey. Let’s get to know them:
– See that little gap between the screen and the fancy OLED panel? Be super careful here, especially if you want to reuse your screen. Follow our instructions like a champ!
– The screen seam is where the screen meets the rest of the phone, and that’s where we’ll be prying. It’s gonna be smooth sailing!
– The midframe seam is where the midframe meets the body of the phone. This part is held down by screws, so don’t even think about prying here. We don’t want any drama!
Step 2
– Let’s get started by placing a suction cup on the right edge of the screen, just below the volume button. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
Step 3
Next up, you’ll slide an opening pick between the screen and the phone’s plastic body. It’s like giving your phone a little hug… with a tool! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
– Handle with care! The plastic opening tool is a little mischievous and could harm that delicate OLED display peeking out beneath the glass.
– Looking to keep your phone’s screen intact? Be sure to slide your pick in at a downward angle, just like the second pic shows in this step.
– This way, your trusty opening pick will glide under the OLED panel instead of wedging itself between the glass and the panel, saving that screen from disaster!
Step 4
Alrighty, now’s your chance to break free from the suction cup’s grasp! Yank that opening pick out and carry on with the fun!
– Pump up the strength and pull that suction cup upwards with confidence – you’re about to create some space between the screen and the phone!
– Time to bring in the opening pick – gently slide it into the gap you just made.
– If you feel the pick hitting something, don’t panic! It’s probably just the edge of the OLED panel. Try angling it downwards and giving it another shot. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
Step 6
– Before you start, take a minute to prep your phone’s top edge. Use an iOpener, heat gun, or hair dryer to loosen the adhesive – it’ll make the process way smoother. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair

Step 7
– Gently work your opening pick around the upper-right corner of the screen – take your time, you got this!
– If you’re planning to reuse your screen, be extra careful here. To avoid damaging the display, either keep your pick deep under the OLED screen, as shown in the photos, or only insert it about 5 mm into the device. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
Step 8
As you glide along this edge, be mindful of the camera and proximity sensor hiding out here. Take it easy and navigate around them instead of forcing things.
Step 9
– Gently slide your opening pick along the left edge of the phone to break that adhesive seal. You’re doing great!
Step 10
– Before you start, take a minute to prep your phone’s screen. If you’re planning to reuse it, warm up the bottom edge with a heat gun, hair dryer, or iOpener to loosen the adhesive. This will make the repair process a whole lot smoother. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair

Step 11
– Now it’s time to carefully slide your opening pick along the bottom edge of the phone to loosen the last bits of adhesive holding the screen in place.
– Not so fast! Don’t try to remove the screen just yet – it’s still connected to the phone by a display cable, so let’s take it one step at a time.
– If you’re planning to reuse your screen, be extra careful here. To avoid damaging the display, keep your pick deep under the OLED display, or only insert it about 5 mm into the device. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair with Salvation Repair.
Step 12
– Grab the top of your screen (where the selfie camera lives), give it a little lift, and flip it over like you’re showing off your cool new phone! The screen should be resting face-down on the phone. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
Step 13
– Time to show off your tweezery! Gently remove that little black sticker covering our display cable bracket. If that sticker’s still got some life in it, pop it back on later for a reusable flip. Or, if it’s ready to retire, just swap it out for a piece of electrical tape. You got this!

Step 14
Hey, sometimes those screws are a bit picky! You might find that a T4 Torx driver fits better than a T3. No worries, it happens. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
– Pop out the two 4.3mm T3 screws holding the display cable bracket in place.
– As you go through this repair, remember where each screw came from and be sure to return it to its original spot.
Step 15
When disconnecting connectors, be gentle to avoid accidentally dislodging the tiny surface-mounted components nearby. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
– Let’s get that display cable bracket outta there, nice and easy!
– Now, using the pointy end of your trusty spudger, gently pry up on the cable connector to disconnect the screen. It’s like giving it a little high-five, but with tools!
– To re-attach the connector, make sure it’s lined up perfectly. Press down on one side until it clicks, then do the same on the other side. Don’t press in the middle – you wanna keep those pins happy! If you’re not sure, don’t worry – you can always schedule a repair with Salvation Repair.

Step 16
– Gently pop off the screen from your phone, it’s time for a little makeover!
– Take a moment to check out your shiny new replacement part alongside the original. You might need to move over some key pieces like the speaker grille and camera bracket to keep everything in sync.
Step 17
– Time to get that screen back in action! Let’s do this.
– During the initial boot-up after you’ve put everything back together, the screen will run through a calibration sequence. Just sit back and watch, don’t touch it! This will help make sure your touch is spot on and working smoothly.
– Grab those tweezers or an opening tool and carefully clean the phone frame, removing any leftover adhesive. A little bit of high concentration isopropyl alcohol can help make it sparkle.
– If you’re thinking about re-using the old screen, make sure to give it a good clean. Get rid of all the old adhesive – be careful with metal tools so you don’t scratch the screen.
– Now for the fun part! Apply some pre-cut adhesive or double-sided tape (we love Tesa tape!) to re-attach the screen to the frame. Make sure it’s nice and secure.

Step 18
Because of how these gadgets are made, a T4 Torx driver might just slide into those T3 screws a bit more smoothly.
– Time to unscrew those 4.3mm screws! Let’s do this:
– As you tackle this repair, keep an eye on those screws! Make sure each one finds its way back home, just like a lost puppy.
– 14 shiny silver T3 Torx screws
– 2 sleek black T3 Torx screws
Step 19
The midframe is still held in place by some cheeky little plastic clips.
– Gently slide an opening pick into the gap at the bottom of your phone.
– Carefully glide the pick along the seam to free those clips that are holding the midframe snugly to the rest of your phone.
Step 20
Now that you’ve got the clips along the bottom of the phone loosened up, you can use the flat edge of the opening pick to gently pry the rest of them open. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
– Let’s get this phone party started! Slide that opening pick along the left and right edges of your phone to release those midframe clips. They’re just waiting to be freed!
– Now, give that bottom edge of the midframe a little lift, but don’t go all the way yet. There’s a little cable connecting it to the phone, and we don’t want to break anything, right?
Step 21
– Grab your trusty spudger and gently nudge up the proximity sensor cable to detach it from the motherboard. You’ve got this!

Step 22
– Alright, time to get that midframe out of the way! Let’s carefully remove it from the phone. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 23
– Alright, time to put everything back together! Line up the top of the midframe with the top of your phone. Then, using your trusty spudger, gently press the proximity sensor cable connector onto its socket. It might take a little finesse and patience, but you got this!
– Once the connector is lined up, you can also use a finger to give it a gentle push onto the socket. You’re almost there, keep going!

Step 27
– Go ahead and disconnect that interconnect cable with confidence!
Step 28
Hey there, repair hero! Sometimes those little strips can be a bit stubborn. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Here are some tips to help you conquer this challenge and make your repair a success!
– Alright, time to get those battery tabs out! We’re gonna pull on these special stretch-release adhesive tabs – they’re like little rubber bands that lose their grip when you stretch ’em.
– Just hold the phone steady by the sides, no need to push down on the battery. We’re not trying to start a fight!
– Keep those strips nice and flat as you pull – no wrinkles allowed! 😉
– Pull slowly and let the strip stretch out. It might take a little bit of time, like 15-30 seconds for each one.
– And pull at a low angle, so the strip doesn’t get caught on the battery’s edge. Easy peasy!
Step 29
Ease up on the pull once you can snag that tab with your fingers!
– Alright, let’s get this battery out! Use those tweezers and grab the pull tab on the right adhesive strip. It’s hiding in the bottom right corner of the battery. Gently pull it out – we want to keep those battery connections happy, right?

Step 30
Get ready to stretch that strip – it’s going to get a lot longer than you think. Keep pulling and re-grip it near the battery if you need to.
If the adhesive tabs break while you’re removing the battery, don’t worry. Just use your fingers or some blunt tweezers to gently grab the remaining adhesive and keep pulling. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
– Whoa, let’s grab that adhesive tab with gusto! Now, why don’t you slowly pull it away from the battery, moving it towards the bottom of your phone like a pro?
– Alright, now keep a steady hand and maintain that constant tension on the strip as it slips out from between the battery and the rear case. You’ve got this!

Step 31
Hey, take it easy when you’re removing the battery! Soft-shell lithium-ion batteries could get a bit cranky if they’re deformed. No need to use excessive force or any metal tools – keep it friendly!
