Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 9 Steps

The CPU Fan keeps your CPU cool and running smoothly while you’re using your computer. If you notice your CPU or computer is getting unusually hot or even overheating, it’s time to swap out the fan. This guide will show you exactly how to replace the CPU Fan in your ASUS Vivobook Flip TP501U.

Step 1

– Lay the laptop flat and flip it so the screen is facing down.

– Unscrew the eight 9.6mm Phillips #00 screws at the bottom of your laptop.

– Remove the two 4.8mm Phillips screws from each corner of the device.

Step 2

– Flip the device over so the screen is facing up.

– Grab your trusty plastic Opening Pick and gently work it between the keyboard panel and the chassis you just unscrewed. It’ll pop open like a charm!

Step 3

– Gently lift the keyboard panel to expose the ribbon cables, then use your fingers or a plastic pry tool to detach the two ribbons from the motherboard, carefully lifting the blue tabs along with them.

– Once the ribbons are free, lift and remove the keyboard panel completely—you’re almost there!

Step 4

– Grab your Phillips #00 driver and take out the lone 3.17 mm screw holding the WiFi card in place. That little guy’s the only thing standing in your way!

– Gently slide the WiFi card downward to disconnect it from the motherboard—no need to muscle it, just a smooth move will do.

– Look for the black and white wires attached underneath. Pop them off with a little upward wiggle—they should come right off with a satisfying snap.

Step 5

– Grab your screwdriver and remove the five 4.8mm Phillips #00 screws securing the hard drive mounting bracket. Then, gently slide the bracket toward the battery to disconnect the hard drive from the motherboard. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.

Step 6

– Unplug that snazzy white ribbon cable.

– Now, let’s give that black ribbon cable a little love and disconnect it too.

– Time to free the battery from its cozy home on the motherboard.

– And don’t forget to unplug the motherboard power cable; it’s time for a little break!

Step 7

– Grab your trusty screwdriver and unscrew the ten 4.8mm Phillips #00 screws. They’re ready to pop right out!

Step 8

– Flip the motherboard over to check out the underside.

– Take out the 9.5mm screw with your Phillips #00 screwdriver.

– Unscrew the four 3.2mm screws using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.

Step 9

– First up, let’s disconnect that fan wire and get it out of the way.

– Now, gently lift the fan out of the device and set it aside.

Success!
To put your device back together, just retrace your steps in reverse. You’ve got this! If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
