Hey there, repair champ! Just a friendly reminder to take your time and double-check each step. If you run into any bumps along the way, no worries at all—just schedule a repair and let the pros handle it. You’ve got this!
Follow this awesome guide to separate the lower case from the main body of the computer. By doing this, you’ll unveil most of the computer’s internal components. Remember, if you need assistance, you can always schedule a repair with Salvation Repair.
Step 3
– Make sure your device is chillin’ right side up, facing away from you.
– Pop open the cool Input/Output (I/O) door.
Step 4
– Gently curve the door into a nice arch until one of the pins pops free from its cozy spot.
– Once that pin is liberated, go ahead and lift the I/O door off the computer.
Step 5
– Make sure the computer is upside down and the back is facing you. The Macintosh label should be right side up and easy to read in this position.
Step 6
– Grab a T8 torx screwdriver and get ready to say goodbye to the 6.8mm long screw hanging out above and to the right of the modem jack.
– Give that screw a little twist to the left, and watch it pop out like a champ.
Step 7
– Grab a T10 torx screwdriver and get ready to say goodbye to those four, 18mm long screws attached to the lower case with love.
Step 8
Heads up! You can’t completely remove the lower case until you free up the two plastic clips tucked away in the front corners. Check out the next step for the scoop!
– Get your hands cozy on the lower case, just above the I/O panel, and gently lift it up a few inches from the main body of your computer. You’ve got this!
– Carefully disconnect the large, gray interconnect ribbon cable located just behind the I/O panel. Easy peasy!
Step 9
– Start by placing your thumb on the top side of the device, right inside that cozy little battery slot, and let your index finger hang out on the left side of the bottom case, close to your thumb.
– Now, give a gentle pinch with your thumb and index finger to pop that clip loose! While keeping the pinch going, use your index finger to nudge the lower case upwards.
– With a little lift, say goodbye to the lower case as you remove it!
