Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 5 Steps
Upgrading your RAM is like giving your computer a turbo boost! A faulty RAM, on the other hand, can send your apps into a tailspin or make them freeze up on you. So, when it’s time to swap it out, make sure you get RAM that’s a perfect match for your laptop!
Step 1
Unplug those power cords and shut down your laptop! Trying to swap out parts while it’s still powered up can lead to a shocking experience—or worse, damage your device. Let’s keep it safe and sound while we work our magic!
The battery decided to play hide and seek in this photo.
– Alright, let’s get started! Flip your laptop over and give it a little spin so the battery is facing you.
– Now, to free that battery, use your fingers to press down on the two black slide tabs. Just push them toward the center of the laptop to unlock it.
– With the tabs released, slide the battery toward you and gently lift it out. You’re doing great!
Step 2
– Alright, let’s flip that laptop over! Make sure the battery pack is facing away from you, like it’s trying to sneak off.
– Now, grab your trusty Phillips #1 screwdriver and remove those six 1.5 mm screws on the back panel. They’re just waiting to be freed!
Step 3
– Slide your finger into one of the nifty slots on the bottom panel.
– Now, give it a gentle lift upwards, and voilà! The back panel of the laptop will pop off like a charm.
Step 4
First things first, let’s make sure you know what RAM your device needs. Check out the specs on the device page!
Now, let’s get that RAM out! You’ll see two white plastic tabs keeping it snug and secure. Just gently place your fingers on each tab and pull them outward. Easy peasy!
– You’ll hear a delightful little pop and see the RAM happily wiggle its way up.
– Gently slide the RAM towards the back of the laptop (that’s where the battery hangs out), and then lift it up to set it free.
Step 5
– Just like you did before, go ahead and tackle the bottom RAM! It’s all about that repeat game. You’ve got this!
