How to Replace ASUS D550MA Motherboard Guide

Thinking about swapping out your motherboard, fan, or RAM? No worries! Just follow this guide. Remember to take out the Keyboard Module, DVD Drive, and Hard Drive before tackling the motherboard. You’ve got this!

Step 1

– Grab a Philips #1 screwdriver and let’s tackle those nine screws on the back cover. You’ve got this!

Step 2

– Flip your laptop over and open the display like you’re about to dive into some serious work.

– Take your spudger and gently slide the flat edge into the seam of the keyboard cover.

– With the spudger in place, slowly work your way along the edge, carefully popping the casing open as you go.

Step 3

– Gently lift the cover from the front of your laptop like it’s a delicate flower—just don’t take it off completely yet!

– Keep an eye on where those three white and blue data cables are connected from the keyboard to the main board. Trust us, you’ll want to remember!

Step 4

– Time to disconnect the three data cables from the motherboard. Just gently pull them apart and set them aside. Easy does it—no need to rush!

– Gently detach the keyboard module that’s been fully disconnected from the laptop. You’re doing great!

– Grab your trusty Philips #1 screwdriver and unscrew those four little screws holding the hard drive in place. You’ve got this!

– Gently slide the hard drive to the right to unplug it from the motherboard, then lift it out with care. You’ve got this!

Step 8

– Using your trusty Phillips #1 Screwdriver, gently unscrew the lone screw that’s keeping the drive snug and secure. You’ve got this!

Step 9

– Gently slide the drive to the right side of the laptop to easily disconnect it from the motherboard.

Step 10

– Grab your trusty Phillips #1 screwdriver and unscrew those two little screws holding the battery snugly in place. You’ve got this!

Step 11

– Lift the battery out and remove it:

– Grab the battery with your fingers, one on each side, and make sure you have a solid grip.

– Now, just pull straight up to gently lift the battery out of its snug spot.

Step 12

– Find the Network Interface Card (NIC) on the motherboard. It’s usually in plain sight, so it shouldn’t be too hard to spot!

– Now, gently unplug the white and black wires from the NIC. They should slide off easily with just a little tug—no need to force it!

Step 13

– Grab your trusty Phillips #1 screwdriver and unscrew the screws that are keeping the wireless network card in place. Easy does it!

Step 14

– Carefully wiggle and ease out the NIC.

Step 15

– Using your trusty Philips #1 screwdriver, carefully take out the 9 screws that are securing the motherboard in place. You’ve got this!

– First things first, disconnect those three cables from the motherboard. We’re getting closer!

– The big, black cable? That’s your screen cable. Gently tug on the black tape to ease it out—no need to force it, just wiggle it free.

– Now for the fan and speaker cables. These use similar connectors, so take a black spudger or your fingers to carefully pull them out. Patience is key here—slow and steady does it!

– Gently slide the motherboard to the right to disconnect it from the laptop’s casing. It’s like a little dance move!
