Ready to tackle that pesky NFC antenna and charging coil assembly on your Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra? You’ve come to the right place! This guide is based on the SM-G998B/DS (international) model, but don’t worry if you have a different version—just keep in mind that some models have an extra antenna cable tucked away in the midframe. When you’re putting everything back together, remember to swap out those adhesive seals. Your device will still work like a champ, but it might lose a bit of its water resistance. And hey, if you want everything to stick like new, grab some replacement adhesive for reassembly. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair.
Step 1
First things first, make sure to unplug and power down your phone before diving in. Safety first, right?
Feel free to use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate to warm things up a bit, but keep an eye on the heat! Both the display and the internal battery can be a bit sensitive to overheating.
– Grab your trusty iOpener and give it a warm hug on the back cover for at least three minutes. This will help loosen up that stubborn adhesive hiding underneath.
Step 2
Got a cracked back cover? No worries! Slap on some clear packing tape so the suction cup can get a grip. If that doesn’t work, strong tape to the rescue instead of the suction cup. And if all else fails, superglue the suction cup to the busted cover.
Struggling to create a gap? Apply more heat to make the adhesive softer. Follow the iOpener instructions and avoid overheating.
– Attach a suction handle to the bottom edge of the back cover, getting it as close to the edge as you can.
– Pull up on the suction handle to lift the back cover, creating a small gap between the cover and the frame.
– Slide an opening pick into the gap you just made.
– Move the opening pick to the bottom left corner to cut through the adhesive.
– Keep the opening pick in place to stop the adhesive from resealing.

Step 3
– Grab a second opening pick and slide it into the bottom edge of your phone.
– Glide that pick to the bottom right corner to slice through the adhesive.
– Keep those opening picks in place to stop the adhesive from resealing.
Step 4
If the adhesive is giving you a tough time, it may have cooled off a bit. Simply grab your iOpener and warm it up for a couple of minutes.
– Pop in a third opening pick at the bottom right corner of your phone.
– Gently glide the opening pick along the right edge of your phone to cut through that sticky adhesive.
– Keep the opening pick in the top right corner to stop the adhesive from sealing back up.

Step 5
Be careful when slicing near the camera assembly, only use the smallest part of the opening pick (about 1/16 inch) to avoid any damage or smudging of your camera. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair
– Slide a fourth opening pick under the top right corner of your phone like a pro.
– Gently glide the opening pick along the top edge to cut through that sticky adhesive.
– Keep the opening pick in the top left corner to stop the adhesive from sealing back up.
Step 6
When you’re getting close to that power button, just slide in the tip of your opening pick (around 3-4 mm) and take care not to poke too deep. We wouldn’t want to mess up the power and volume button flex cable, now would we?
– Slide a fifth opening pick under the top left corner like a pro.
– Gently glide the opening pick down the left edge of the back cover to cut through the last bits of adhesive.
Step 7
– Time to rock and roll! Snap off that back cover.
– Let’s groove into reassembly: It’s showtime for your phone! Test all functions to make sure we’re on song. Power down before we keep the beat.
– Pluck off any sticky bits with tweezers or your trusty fingers.
– Grab some top-shelf isopropyl alcohol (over 90% proof) to wipe away the residue.
– If you’re rolling with custom-cut adhesives, check the rhythm with this guide.
– If you’re jamming with double-sided tape, check the beat with this guide.
