Duration: 45 minutes
Steps: 17 Steps
Heads up! Got your Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (SM-G998B/DS)? Let’s get this repair party started! Need a hand? You can always schedule a repair.
Ready to give your Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra a little TLC? This guide is here to help you swap out that loudspeaker! We’ll be working with the SM-G998B/DS (international) model, but if you’re rocking a different version, just keep in mind that there’s an extra antenna cable tucked away in the midframe. When you’re putting everything back together, remember to replace those adhesive seals. Your device will still work like a charm, but it might lose some of its water resistance. Don’t forget, you’ll need some replacement adhesive to stick everything back in place. If you need help, you can always schedule a repair!
Step 1
First things first, make sure to unplug and power down your phone before diving in. Safety first, right?
Feel free to use a hair dryer, heat gun, or hot plate to warm things up a bit, but keep an eye on the heat! Both the display and the internal battery can be a bit sensitive to overheating.
– Get your iOpener ready and gently place it on the back cover. Let it work its magic for a minimum of three minutes to loosen up that sticky adhesive.
Step 2
If the back cover is looking a bit worse for wear with some nasty cracks, slapping on a layer of clear packing tape might just do the trick and help your suction cup stick better. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also use some super strong tape in place of the suction cup. And if things get really tough, don’t hesitate to superglue that suction cup right onto the broken cover!
If you’re struggling to create a gap, try giving it a little more heat to help loosen that stubborn adhesive. Just remember to follow the iOpener instructions so you don’t accidentally overdo it!
– Get a trusty suction handle and attach it securely to the lower edge of the back cover, as close to the edge as you can.
– With the power of suction, lift that back cover gently to create a cozy little gap between it and the frame.
– Take an opening pick and confidently insert it into the gap you just made.
– Carefully slide that opening pick to the bottom left corner, making those adhesives wish they were elsewhere.
– Leave the opening pick in its happy place to keep the adhesives from sealing up again. You’ve got this!

Step 3
– Time to work some magic with a second opening pick at the bottom edge of your phone!
– Gently slide that opening pick to the bottom right corner like a pro to slice through the adhesive.
– Keep those opening picks snug in their spots to make sure that sneaky adhesive doesn’t try to sneak back in.
Step 4
If you’re having a tough time slicing through that adhesive, it probably needs a little pick-me-up because it’s cooled off. Give your iOpener a whirl for two to three minutes to warm things back up!
– Pop in a third opening pick at the bottom right corner of your phone.
– Glide that pick along the right edge to slice through the adhesive.
– Keep the pick chilling in the top right corner to stop the adhesive from resealing.

Step 5
When slicing near the camera assembly, just pop in the tip of the opening pick (~4-5 mm) so you don’t accidentally mess up the camera. Remember, it’s all about gentle precision!
– Pop in a fourth opening pick under the top right corner of your device.
– Glide the pick along the top edge to slice through the adhesive.
– Leave the pick in the top left corner to keep the adhesive from resealing.
Step 6
When you’re slicing close to the power button, just slide in the tip of the opening pick (about 3-4 mm) to keep that power and volume button flex cable safe and sound!
– Sneak a fifth opening pick under the top left corner.
– Glide the pick along the left edge of the back cover to cut the remaining adhesive.
Step 7
– Peel off that back cover like a boss!
– Now, during the reassembly dance:
– Let’s power on your phone and test it out. Make sure everything’s groovy before sealing the deal. Then, power it down completely like a well-mannered repair ninja.
– Whisk away any pesky adhesive bits with tweezers or your trusty fingers.
– Grab some high concentration isopropyl alcohol – over 90% strength, baby – and wipe off any leftover adhesive residue.
